I've already got one Ducati and my wife will go potty if I get another, but any thoughts about this 748 on Ebay? It's a long way away (7 hours) but seems a fair deal... There are better-informed people on here that know better - any advice? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111306871108?_trksid=p2055120.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ducati-91...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2c7f154f57 916 for £1900? I would
The bike itself looks pretty sound, As Tom says, if you are a competent home mechanic looking for a project, it might be worth a punt, probably easier to drop a complete second hand engine into it. At least you know exactly what you are buying. The listing is a testament to the dangers of buying an ebay 748, they're a minefield for the uninitiated :Inpain:
If I hadn't just had to fork out for a new car due to my missus' land rover biting the dust, I'd have that. Plenty of engines about for £500 and the bike itself looks in great condition
That 748 looks a bargain to me, if you can do the repairs yourself, any closer and I would be looking at it, specially as I have a good engine in the shed! Plenty of money in it broken for spares. Steve
Come on then, folks. What sort of yarn do I spin to convince "her indoors" that I should go and get it?
Thomas: if this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111306871108?_trksid=p2055120.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT if that doesn’t sell by payday I’m going to buy it, put a new engine in it for 500 and sell it for 3500 Thomas: theres a grand in that easy Mrs Thomas: I don't wanna know Thomas: like most things that are a bargain, it’ll be gone before the weekend is over Mrs Thomas: Most likely Thomas: trust me, this one is a bargain and it won’t be being bought by me all my ducati pals are talking about it one of them will probably buy it This is a copy and paste of my iMessage convo with Mrs Thomas. Feel free to use this as a guide.
She's heard it all before I'm afraid and my schemes always fall on their head. So no, she was not convinced. But then again, she never is!
defo go for it as you can pick up a motor on ebay for under £500 , and dont ever belive what a conning bike shop tells you
Good news and bad. The Good: she agreed with me that it was a good idea. The Bad: the vendor needs transport, and is going with a local swap for a 1200 Bandit Heigh-ho Perhaps it's for the best -it WAS a long way away, and "just" a 748E And now I'm ready for the RIGHT one if it comes up.
