Considering changing from my 2017 1200S DVT (has full Termignoni and upmap) to a 1260 Pikes Peak, has anyone made this change would like to know any positive and negative feedback, like going from Skyhook to Ohlins etc?
You need to ride a 1260, preferably an S, to see if you can get on with the longer wheel base and altered geometry. Not been altered by much but has drawn as much criticism as praise because it is different. The 1260 engine is an evolution, not a revolution like the recently confirmed V4. The difference between Skyhook and Ohlins is flexibility/convenience to change from solo to two up, with or without luggage. With the Ohlins, you will have to spend time and money to get the best compromise set up. There are a lot of posts to trawl through about the likes and dislikes between the two. Andy
Exactly what I did. So my opinion:- 2015 DVT. To 2020 PP Once the suspension is set up it’s sublime. £40 / £50 for a pro setup instead of playing. PP Suited to fast riding better than DVT. PP Back brake works. PP engine pulls much smoother than DVT Quick shifter is great fun, my DVT didn’t have one. Although there’s not a lot of weight difference the PP feels lighter. The PP looks better, well it would, it costs a lot more. You will miss the DVT Suspension modes, but not for long.
Looks superb, I also have the Touratech seat on my 1200, much better for comfort and less tipped forward, so did you not get on with the PP seat?
The touratech seat was in their sale at 1/2 price so I bought it. To be fair the PP seat wasn’t much difference. Probably 250 day on PP VS 350 on Touratech.
I also made the same change , nothing negative and I Would agree with everything steel boss said . Only thing I would add is I don’t believe it was worth the outlay from a financial perspective. Too much money , but I guess that’s a prerequisite with Ducati
Well I’m very excited to test ride as soon as possible, a 1260 V2 PP against the soon to be released V4 Pikes Peak! Spoken to my local dealer, so something to look forward to and a prezi to myself for my 55th Birthday next March, as we all say, life is too short!
