Anyone In Or Near Hammersmith / Barnes / Kew With A Steel 55mm Socket For The Rear Wheel?

  1. Long shot but anyone in or near Hammersmith / Barnes / Kew with a steel 55mm socket for the rear wheel that I could borrow for a few hours? I bought an Oberon one and it was made of butter, cheese, and little chewy bits that get stuck in the teeth. I've ordered a decent socket but it probably will not arrive for a few days and I need to get my rear tyre changed on the 1199 for a Wales trip at the weekend.

  2. used to be an excellent tool shop just off north end road in west Kensington, if its still open yes they will have one

  3. Ride it to the tyre shop.

  5. I get the yamaha shop near my work to order me tyres and I just take in the wheels, they have already got the tyre for me and I didn't expect any issues with this nut. The existing tyre is completely flat and will not hold air at all so I can't really ride it anywhere anyway.

On that note, what do people normally get charged for removing the wheels at the tyre shops?

  6. I didn't answer as I couldn't help but sounds like you have learnt the hard way re: 'soft' wheel 'nut' sockets. I know there's a thread somewhere going into detail but can't understand what possessed a manufacturer of normally excellent products to even produce such a thing.

  7. Tyre change on lose wheels at my local shop costs me a jar of coffee and box of tea bags.

  8. ^ nice tool but why the hell have they made it for 3/8 " drive? Ok, 9 times out of 10 will be fine but seems daft to me - 3/8 drive has its place but is also 'trendy' methinks

  9. Eh? it's a 1/2 inch one, the other ones I saw here and the US were the same. I think it's better as I can easily carry a 1/2 inch ratchet whereas a 3/4inch one is too mahoosive.

  10. sorry, eyesight disorder, it's all good then! :upyeah:

  11. 3/4 x 1/2 adapter ?
