1200 Anyone Know This Pike Peak?

  1. Looks nice, and with chicken strips like those has probably not been ridden too hard :p

  2. maybe the last 1000 miles, but what about the 19,000 before that ;)

  3. I'd have thought £8800 was a bit steep for a 2011, even a PP.
I think they want you to pay for all that carbon bling.
Otherwise it looks like a good bike.

  4. Advert states Skyhook but the bike in the video has Ohlins fork bottoms. Previously sold and serviced by them so not a Ducati service history ? I too feel the price is steep for a standard early PP, even though it comes with luggage. Be interested to know if the major service was done at 15,000 or 5 years and if, as I suspect, done on time, it will be due the second major service next year. Andy

  5. I suspect they think its skyhook when its maybe got the SCU thing fitted. Not main dealer.

So I was thinking its a bit over priced, and that if it needs a big service theres a grand that needs to be chucked at PGP. Being a 2011, does it have the porous heads issue? What attracts me is that its not got all the electronics of the later bikes and I still think the PP is the best looking one!

Thinking if I get the px price on mine right, I may walk out with two good bikes with not much additional cost...

  6. As far as I know, the PP only came with manual Ohlins forks, except for the short period after Ducati launched the Skyhook and then returned to Ohlins from 2014. I’ve tried looking for a spec from that era but not successful .... yet. Andy

  7. Didn't the Ohlins come same as S with the electronic adjustment but not SH, but you could add the SCU that made it similar?

edit: if you check the vid it defo has electric suspension

  8. Pretty sure it was only the Multistrada S up to 2012 that came with the electronic Ohlins. I stand to be corrected but I think the Twin Spark went to Sachs. I’ll continue digging. Andy

  9. I think you are right. Plenty of early S PP owners added the SCU to turn the Ohlins into Sky Hook equivalence. Reports I heard were that it acted equally well to the Sky Hook of that time.

  10. I'm guessing MY2012 can be registered in the year before as often go on sale after Milan show. So a late reg 2011 is a MY 2012. (??)

Only thing I could find...and the PP had DES so electronic ohlins https://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2012models/2012-Ducati-Multistrada1200SPikesPeak?d=1

ps you used to be able to go onto Ducati.com and find these things easily!!!

  11. Close to £9k for a nine year old bike!
Hmm, As others have said, seriously over-priced.
On my 2010S, that had fully active Ohlins suspension, non-manual and I thought the PP had the same set-up.

  12. and a smattering of carbon

  13. It’ll definitely go round the corners better than the latest pikes peak :upyeah:
    Still a bit steep though

  14. Not sure how you’ve arrived at that conclusion, but if it’s your experience I’d suggest the suspension needs setting up correctly. Mines like it’s on rails now it’s been done.Latest PP is proper quick in the bends

  15. Way over priced brought my 2013pp last year for roughly the same price from a dealer only 12,000 miles
No luggage service history 1 owner
    no regrets

  16. Gen 1 pikes peak had electronic ohlins and as stated you could add the metronic unit to make it semi active and very good it is to, Gen 2 pp was twin spark with skyhook and gained marchesini wheels, i always liked the pp model because at the time they were the only model with a red frame. The gen 1 is quite rare compared to the gen2. Price wise the pp holds is value quite, i have had my gen 2pp from new 2013 and have had no problems but i am worried about the skyhook repair costs if anything goes wrong. On a side note if you are looking for a track bike my 899 will more than liklely be up for sale soon.
