Not multicoloured, or patterned, or clear, just plain solid white (or even pearl, but I'm not banking on that). I want it to be as inconspicuous as possible.
I know where you can get plain white carbon fibre lookalike wrap (not shiny, but has the weave pattern)..................just done some in black on my tank. AL
These guys will have one for you, they specialise in all sorts of tank pads etc, they make one off's to order and its really good kit. They are in rotherham. Motografix - ACCEPT NO IMITATIONS
Yes.....White Carbon Fibre Vinyl Sheet It's cheap enough to try out anyway.............. Warning.....don't try too many opposing curves..........look at my tank in http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f4/ss-gallery-68/index7.html near the bottom of the page......... ...at least you can guess what it could look like... AL
Ah, yes I see it. Looks like it fit fine, no wrinkles that I can see. Was it easy to cut to shape? Also contacted motografix, no reply yet.
I drew the shape (in white pencil on the black vinyl) and then used a scalpel to cut it out by hand........Definitely not wrinkled; but buy yourself enough to play with and see what happens when you get a hairdryer on it. AL
Is it easy to remove, and I assume it won't damage the tank surface (bit of a redundant question as would be a bit pointless if it did). The ony complication is that I'm picking my 848 up next week, it doesn't have a tank pad and I don't want to buy one at the dealers just as a stop gap. Maybe I can just take some electrical tape with me for as a temporary protector for the journey back (about 2.5hours)?
Duct / Duck tape.....quick and easy to stick on, leaves a bit of a glue mess which will clean off easily, though.........fold a duster up underneath, then you not only get a pad, but less glue on the tank. The carbon fiberey stuff peels off easy when it's warmed up. AL
