Random question but only had our insignia for 5 months and did a light check tonight only to notice that When the parking brake is on there are no external lights?? The light on the dash comes on but not on the rear?? I would say that this isn't normal but I've noticed other different type cars before without handbrake lights and Assuming myself that they have lights out? Just wondered if anyone has an insignia and if they could check.....just find it strange that for a new car there would be no handbrake lights?
I've only had an insignia for a brief period at the beginning of the year, but I wouldn't expect any form of handbrake light, other than the one on the dash. I definitely wouldn't expect it to light the brake lights with the hand brake on. When you see a parked car with one tail light on (especially Vauxhall) its usually the 'parking lights' activated by leaving the indicator stalk in the position relating to the parking light you want on. i.e. to put a left side light and tail light on, with the engine off flick the left indicator on.
Is this normal then? Just find it odd ie if you stop and apply your handbrake how would someone travelling toward your rear at speed know you have stopped? Say in the daylight for example.....there are numpty drivers in Barnsley!!!! Lol!!!
perfectly normal. brake lights should only ever light with the foot brake, never with the parking brake.
