Anyone recently seen petty thief Billy Langton? AKA "Billy the Kid", "Bolt On Billy"

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by tom.i, Oct 25, 2013.

  1. I know the title looks a bit libellous but a few people at least on this forum should know of the reputation of Bill Langton - proprietor of WL Racing, in Cheshire. In fact the libellous bit is using the word "petty".
Forum member CRM probably knows what I mean...

I saw his name mentioned in the post by srad34 about getting scammed and it's prompted me to check if anyone has had any sightings of this crook lately.

Two years ago I paid him a large amount of money for some 998RS parts that he never delivered, and then after a million rubbish excuses and many failed attempts to meet him around Manchester he just vanished.

It was the sort of money you don't just forget or write off so i'm hoping someone might know where he's located these days. I've sent people round to his unit in Oulton Park but it was vacant.

The other purpose of this post was to warn others, just in case they are tempted to have dealings with him. He's got a very simple way of working: he supplies a few parts at nice prices until he thinks you've started to trust him, then he asks you for money up-front for a really nice deal. You think, 'ok... he seems like an alright bloke...' hand over the cash and then he stalls you for weeks and then months and then stops answering his phone. I know of a few others he's done this to so it was not a one-off.

PM me please if you've heard or seen anything. All info in strict confidence of course.

    Thanks, Tom.

  2. There's a few places you can search. Does he have a Facebook account? If so he may have geo tagging info in his pictures of him in his garden etc? Easy to find. Pipl.com is good, but might link to 192 which will cost money. Do you have his email address?

  3. Rip Off Britain?

  4. Cheers Nick - all very good ideas. He's smart enough to keep a very low profile though.

  5. Thanks for the heads up. :upyeah:

Hope you find him. Any idea of his eBay name?

  6. Thanks mate. Yeah, he was using the ebay account of a mate of his - the user ID is "intense.ern"

  7. Bill Langton now there's a name I haven't heard in a year or two, as you've said he did have a good rep but he soon went sour for some reason last I heard he was out in Spain helping a few racers but I honestly don't know where he could be now.

  8. he could be on here...

  9. Imagine that! - it would be like a game of Cluedo...

  10. That's just it... been really quiet the last year and a half.
I heard he was on the IOM helping out a few mechanics but that was a while back.

I think it went sour because he's ripped off just about everyone who ever dealt with him, other than one or two strangely loyal customers...

  11. I have more stories than I care to remember, I knew him well through racing but never had any direct dealings with him as my gut feeling at the time warned me to stay clear.

  16. Thanks Al,
that's very interesting. I followed your post up just now with a company check
Francis Green Racing is a horse racing outfit.
I wonder then if Billy originally registered his company as something other than WL Racing Ltd.?

  18. Looking at the feedback as a seller mid 2011 there are lots of Ducati parts. But since 2011 its only been used for buying

  19. I was at an auction around 18 months ago that sold off all the bits/bikes that the liquidators recovered from his workshop. I was only talking about Bolt On Billy to another guy who he owes money too on Wednesday afternoon last week. He has done a shergar it seems.
