1200 DVT Anyone Try A 190/50 Before?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by vikram, Mar 30, 2016.

  1. Hi!

nearly time for a tyre change, and stock are not available
the 190/55 is also very difficult to get hold of

has anyone tried a 190/50 on a multi before?

    looking at metzlerM5 or PR4's

    thanks

  2. 190/55 is a very standard popular size. It has a slightly taller 5mm profile than a 190/50 which benefits turn in when cornering etc. Though a 190/50 will fit I'd suggest to stick with the stock 190/55 which will allow for better handling.

  3. The smaller circumference of the 190/50 may also cause an error with the ABS

  4. I ran a 190/50 for about 2000 miles and the biggest issue was how close the edge of the tyre was to the exhaust. Slightly higher revs for the same speed but no issue with ABS or DTS on a 2012 s. Andy

  5. Thanks guys
Good to know, as here in India I am getting 190/50 or 180/55 but not the stock size
Done 6500km so still got a couple of k's left on this one
    Any experience with a Metzler?
    Thanks

  6. I have had Metzeler on a couple of bikes and LOVE them, the M5 is the older tyre but still pretty good, the M7rr that replaced it lasts longer and has better grip but for a Multistrada I might look more towards the Z8, I had those on my last bike and they handled everything I threw at them including a track day in 28°C, one of the hottest days we had last year in the UK.
