My 696's tyres don't have much life left in them, and Guildford Tyres are quite handy for my office and claim to have a ride-in ride-out service (me being the lazy type who wouldn't want to remove wheels at home). Anyone had any experience with them? I'd rather not have to flog down to Alton just for new tyres, but if the alternative involves crowbar wielding gibbons trashing my wheels, I'd rather not find out the hard way. Alternatively, recommendations for mobile tyre fitters (who can remove wheels from bike as well as competently changing the tyres) in the Guildford/Farnborough area would also be welcome.
Yes I use them, they are cheaper than Merityre and carry lots more stock. They also will mend punctures.
they carry a lot more stock and have been more expensive than Merityre for me in the past (Bookham) and nowhere near as helpful/friendly.. (MOO)
I suppose it must be whoever fits your tyres Chris, the last guy fitted the front tyre on backwards, and before that he put 125 grams..........................yes 125 to balance the front wheel, I told him that is not acceptable and there must be a fault with the tyre. But overall they are a good business to deal with as I have always used them for over 12 years now for all my car tyres but I use the Leatherhead branch where I know the managers.
I've had several unacceptable experiences with Guildford tyres over the last 7 years if I have to 'nail my flag to the post' but as always it's speak as you find.
if you can get out to cranleigh FCL motorcycles are top people, and take care of your rims... ahem! I've got to go with Chris on this one, but again thats not to say they aren't any good. When they used to be opposite the cricket ground years ago they used to be very good and very cheap but those days are long gone.
