...and appalling stupidity on behalf of the buyer for not checking! Found this on an Ebay Ducati ad... Amazing that someone could stamp a service book with a 'Topps Tiles Warehouse' stamp, fill it out as a major service and get away with it! Just shows there are shysters out there who will do anything to fool you - be careful! Remember check details and check again - always scrutinise the service book for fraud. Here's his sorry story... " I bought this bike on ebay for £3500 from a fraudulant advertiser in Suffolk back in August, he had advertised the bike as having a full ducati service history, which turned out to be untrue - although I have since found out that it was properly serviced in both 2011 and 2012 by V Duo in Lincoln (who were very helpful in digging out their records for me) with belt changes and engine shims as necessary. However, the service book has a fradulant stamp in it from 2013 which turned out to be from Topps Tiles in Lowestoft where the seller worked as a manager! Also, I was not made aware that the bike had been a cat C write off in September 2012 (which means that it was not structurally faulty but was uneconomic to repair). However, upon my request the police have inspected the bike and investigated the matter and have now confirmed in writing that the bike is not stolen or a "ringer", and they have kindly passed me the full accident details and photos of the damage from the insurance company. Couldn't use the bike for 6 months because Police impounded it on suspicion of theft!."
If he didn't look closely enough to see the stamp, he probably didn't go to the effort of an HPI check either.
I have heard about this one previously, some time ago. I assume he knew were the seller lived? Dish out some payback eh?
Im sorry but a what a bell end for buying it in the first place. Fucking Topps Tiles stamp in the service book and a simple £3 Mytextcheck would have flagged up the Cat C. In this case you will find sympathy in my dictionary some where between shit and syphilis.
Gotta agree with the general opinion - buyer was a twat not to HPI at least... ...and as for service history I study everything veeerry closely since I know that blank service docs can be bought on Ebay...
Given all the petty laws that the governmeint seem to be bringing in that are pointless and crap, and the fact that the public are being ripped off continuously, then surely they can act on things like consumer rip offs... Yes, he was a mug for not doing his homework, but what if he was not 'all there'... It could have been a case of a piss taker taking advantage?...
Typical of Topps tiles , bunch of rip off merchants . 2 years ago i spent in excess of £1200 (well not me i have to confess it was the Mrs that made me ) of wall/ floor tiles ect , was told that anything not used and unopened would get a refund if returned . I had stuff to take back after finishing the job came to £72 , no refund as i was a couple of days over the allowed time(these jobs always take longer than you think) , not pointed out at the time of sale but in the small print. Tossers. Moral of this is dont buy anything from Topps ,but most importantly dont buy a Ducati from them, oh and always read the small print !
Well I never, my towns claim to fame....................oh and it weren't me that sold it  I'm a tiny bit smarter than that lol
Your (our) town has more claims to fame than that... like Reg Holdsworth living in one of the flats by the Claremont when he did a runner in Corrie...
