Anyone using one and found a source for just a watch eSIM only contract U.K.? Thinking of buying an ultra 2 and think would be great to leave the phone at home entirely and just use but can’t find a provider that will only do the sim element, they all seem to only do it with the watch and I’d rather buy from John Lewis and get the two years guarantee or apple direct
AFAIK, watch tariff has to be a supplementary to that for the mobile phone. The watch’s battery life wouldn’t be sufficient to use all day independently. Having said that, there’s easily enough for two or three hours away from the phone.
The ultra 2 has allegedly 36hrs on low power mode and I’ve seen some evidence of independent testing that shows its way more than that. It’s lasts 17 hrs with always on screen and all the background tracking live.
Vodafone have one, I bought my watch from Apple direct, then added E-SIM, however I was a VF customer. However they did issue a temp phone number before doing the link to my phone thing. I only kept it 2 months though, because honestly my watch just never seemed to have mobile signal even when my phone did, so never felt I could rely on it when I went out
I charge mine every third day, and the battery shows around 40% when I do, so that sounds about right.
Yep, Ultra and Ultra 2 much better battery life than basic Watch, but I believe figures quoted assume phone is present. Phone does all the comms and sends data (GPS, Mobile) to the watch using bluetooth. If phone is taken away and watch has to do its own Wifi, GPS and mobile, battery life is hit hard.
I'm a Lebara customer which uses Vodaphone network, think I'll drop them a line. Interesting point about still needing the phone.
Im hoping to look at the Ultra 2 today, the extra battery life and tougher construction are what attracts me.
