Any ideas on a value for my 916 It's a 1996 biposto with termis and a ecu 25k 3 owners, last owner had it for 15 years, ive owned it 5. Had £850 bottom end engine refurb at Ducati Coventry in 2007 before being laid up inside my friends spare room ,due to a house move i bought it I took the bottom end, and the other original engine parts to Louigi moto and had them build the rest the engine with new belts and a few new parts £550 spent as he kindly bought a few spares I didn't need to offset the rebuild cost Wheels are the wrong colour, new tyres ,I was going to paint them gold but they are tidy and look ok in black in think Bought a new old stock genuine screen The panels are oem tank and seat repainted The clutch lever is the wrong colour Otherwise I would say it's very tidy condition rides perfectly no fault I have the standard pipes with it
Not sure I bought them with the bike they had just been repainted ,I always assumed they should be gold on a 96
Hmmmm 916s are fetching strong money at present, IMO some of the prices asked are unjustifiable but there seems to be a number of prospective buyers around who have it in their heads they want a 916 even though they could get a later model 996 or 998 at some of the 916 asking prices. It's possible to raise a whole load of questions about various aspects of the bike if one were looking for a wholly original 916 but it is what it is, personally I like the black wheels. It doesn't have too many owners and if you have all the receipts and history that is always a bonus. I think if you pitched it at £6995 you'd sell it quickly and at very near to the asking price if not the asking price. If you pitched it at £7995 it would take longer but you might be able to end up with something north of £7k. Just my views, see what others have to say. ps. DO NOT accept any Wotsits
Great thank you Its a good bike I just find it too uncomfortable to ride really I did try to keep the parts that haven't been swapped already original, but the single seat , wheel colour, and fairing with the white paint were already as they are and I quite liked those so left it Any other bits not right for the model I've not noticed ? I have all the receipts for the parts and engine work.its only been ridden a handful of miles since finishing,it's now mot d the first time since 2007 I feel a sit and test ride on a hyperstrada is due once the shops are open !
£4995 and that's my final offer, that's delivered to Heathrow. Let me know what time to expect you. I'll have the kettle on and cash waiting.
Good you set the ball rolling Paul, I think we need brave @bradders to dive in here, I got my fingers burnt last time/916.
I'll make coffee and even drop you back home... if McDonalds is open I'll get you one of them on the way back.
Likewise but they’re still fun to ride, as long as it’s not in stop/start traffic and wouldn’t want to go touring though, but that’s not what they were built for.
I'm 53, 30" inside left leg (about 29 the other side) and hard to kidnap. Why not get a Multistrada.... The only complaints I ever heard of were from short arses. I love my 748, 749 and 998... but the last trip to Brighton nearly resulted in a hospital stay to sort out my arms, wrists and back. The Mutleys are awesome... uber comfortable and very quick, once the engine is sorted.
There was a multi at box hill today, they look comfy enough that's all I can say looks wise I'm afraid, those big adventure style bikes GS Africa twin etc arnt really my cup of tea at the moment. Maybe I should try a few miles on this 1st ,but 50mph fixed speed limit ,lots of traffic ,wrist ache and blast of heat when the fans cut in wasn't great Although 2 small stretches of road ,the engine is amazing and the sound too Thing is I remember wanting one of these when they were new ,I bought a GSXR750 as they were half the price I seem to recall, and watching superbikes on TV ,I've always loved these ,still do but I probably should have bought one 20 years ago !
Remember those looks are for other people.... when you ain't on the bike... Once you plonk a rider on a bike they look pretty much the same IMHO.... I like riding and I wish I'd discovered a bike like the Mutley in my 20's and not my 40's... That said a race Duke is a sexy thing. Don't forget what I said in my PM...
If you don’t like the adventure bike style have you thought about a Monster? Much more user friendly day to day.
nice bike mister! no idea what it would sell for but its worth loads of money dude... keep it and thrash it! you forget the aches and pains when thrashing a bike.
