Arai Chaser V .

  1. Hi All .
What are your views/opinions of the above helmet , I have 1 on order from sports bike shop.
It also has as a free offer their Pro Shade visor system that appears to have a flip up sun visor attached to a clear visor .
Has any one used this system and what are your thoughts ?
    Thanks.

  2. Hmm, I like the Chaser V, looked at one just before Christmas and it's deffo on the list. I was offered it with the PS visor system for free, which is just as well because let's be honest here, it is an abortion of a thing. I've no idea how it might fair with the practicalities of wind noise, carrying around and generally not trying to look like a carbuncle on the back-side of humanity (can't remember who said that) but, for me it would go in the bin in, oh what? 3 seconds, at most.

    Fine helmet otherwise I'm sure.

    For shits and giggles ...

  3. I've got one. Like it a lot and it feels a lot better finished than either my Shark S900 or my AGV K3 SV. The pro-shade isn't as convenient as an internal visor and I don't quite buy the justification for it given by Arai.

On top of that you ride along and with it up or down you get bugs... and then you get bugs between the two, and you have a mess. I have gone back to a clear visor or a black visor depending on the weather. I tend to grab my AGV most of the time on the Ducati and wear the Arai on my Blade as I've got a Shinya rep' and it goes better with the Honda (yeah yeah :D ) but the Arai definitely feels more "premium" and plush and the ventilation system is as good on the Chaser V as any helmet I've ever worn.

I give it a thumbs up, but at £400 I think I paid for my Arai vs. £140 for the K3... I'm not sure that it represents the best value, especially given the pony pro-shade system. You can't beat the looks of the Arai though, they just look so right.

    YMMV

  4. sports bike shop ......
is that the one in boston
was going out there the have a look what they have in stock
looked on there site not a bad range
was looking at an agv on there at half price

  5. I had the chaser colin legend and loved it comfy fit ventilated well you could crack it open slightly to stop misting and it would stay put crashed well too :)

  6. I love Arai and have a chaser 5 and a Viper.

Both great helmets and they have faults but the pros outweigh the cons by a mile (IMHO)

    The PROs
    Well made
    Comfy
Look awesome (a matter of conjecture I guess)
    Good vision

    The CONs
As has been said the visor thingy is an abortion (I like others ride in a tinted, and carry a clear visor)
They are noisy (I wear plugs)
The visor removal and install and some of the vent attachments really could be better made and not so fragile (that said spares for all of these things are easy to find, although its a niggle and irks me)
They are expensive (but what price yer noggin and, for me, comfort is an integral addition to safety. If your not comfy it niggles and takes your mind of other things)

  7. Have you got your Chaser V yet? I like mine, least I think it's a chaser v, can't check at the moment but see my Avitar. It's an Aria.

I use clear and tinted visors, you get used to the mechanism for changing after a while.
It might be a bit noisy compared to others but not sure, I always wear ear plugs anyway.
I find it very comfy and well made. When I clocked this one I just had to have it.
Basically I think you'll be happy.

  8. Anyone else tried this pro shade visor system? I've just read a review on it on an American site and they gave it thumbs up. A few niggles of course.

It's just that I was out on Saturday and really could have done with a flip up sun visor. Got absolutely dazzled going into the sun with a clear visor which of course was fine in shade.

  9. Still waiting for the helmet from Sportsbike shop , I have got the free visor , as bike in bits couldn't try it if I wanted !!!
