Are Hypermotard Bars The Same?

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by comfysofa, Apr 6, 2016.

  1. As above... Got my 1100 evo sp yesterday and have set about putting the stock foldy mirrors back on.... But they don't fit. The bars are stock and the bar ends fit but the other end that clamps round the bars appear to be too small, like the bars are too thick! I assume the 796 and the 1100 are/were the same... Anyone confirm this...? Unless I've bought ringer foldy mirrors! But they look to be all ok...

  2. Are the folding mirrors original to your bike , measure the bar where the clamp that you say won't fit and I will go measure my bars just for comparison

  3. Sorry , just re read ..... " mirrors you have bought "

  4. Yeah... Got em second hand... The fucking simplest of things.... Ive got them to fit but they're quite tight although the plastic is quite soft so they've moulded a little bit... I don't think it's the length but more the bore of the bar mount... Not the bar end...

  5. Will have a look at mine tomorrow when I go in the garage

  6. Cheers Lee... Let me know what the bore of yours is (when clamped closed)... Tar...

  7. Case closed....turns out the bars are different on a 796 to an 1100....phoned riders in Bristol - the whole handguard is the same apart from the bar clamps and, in true ducati form....100 for those 2 clamps - plus the vat....

  8. Just for your info anyhow Comfy
Bars are tapered , bar is 25mm where the clamp fits .
Clamp is a machined taper 24mm small end 26mm wider end
Markings for RH and LH face outwards , arrows face inwards

  9. Thanks Lee, that confirms it.... The 796 bars don't taper out... Thanks very much for the pics all the same.... Just gotta either find the clamps second hand..... Probably not.... Or wait til the end of the month...! Mine don't have the arrows either!

  10. Wow I'd have thought that they'd be one of the things that were exactly the same.

  11. yep - shit isn't it....no need for different set of bars on virtually the same bike...well, ive actually got them to fit....firstly the plastic is pretty soft and ive used slightly longer bolts so, theyre on but they'll be coming off as soon as I can get the right part....started my run of stainless steel buying....im at about 70 quid already...studs, barrel nuts, rear sprocket nuts, pinch bolts...not even got to the engine yet, or under the seat...tank'll be coming off tomorrow as it looks to me that its never really had a partial strip and clean....previous owners have just cleaned what they can see...
