Looking at a multistrada for spring coming soon, how do they suit shorter riders? I believe low seats are available? thanks in advance.
Hi It depends how long your legs are really. I'm 5' 9" but my legs are quite short with a 30" inside leg. Riding without pillion is fine, but fully loaded and two up it's a bit challenging! I have the low seat and it makes a little bit of difference, the best thing was adding some raised insoles in my boots, similar to the uber expensive daytona's. Once on it, the ride is awesome and you soon forget the height. Deaks
I'm 5' 8" with. 31" inside leg. I can get both balls of my feet down no problem. Having thick soles on your boots definitely helps. I used to use a pair of Altberg boots with tractor tread soles and they made me feel much more secure
The 2015-16 DVT seat is much lower than the 2010-14 Multistrada. Short persons are advised to buy a new DVT and steer clear of earlier models.
I have a 28inch seam and legs like trunks, 5'8, and manage OK mostly. Not with pillion tho, hence I chopped in for a DVT and that is thinner and lower and much better ANyone whos ridden with me will say its about plannig, and the quick-foot-hop, but manageable HTH
I am 5 foot 7 and bought a MTS1200 GT - I considered a DVT also but stuck with the earlier model Can get toes down and a bit more with the low seat option I actually am finding it fine even fully laden and am going to go back to the original touring seat which is higher I have the luggage setting at just me the rider and do plan where I am stopping but it has been much less of a drama than I feared tbh even when fully loaded up - the GT has the extra large panniers The setting on the suspension makes a big difference - endure is set too tall but can be changed Urban is v low and is set more 'bouncy' - it settles easier and is easier to get the main part of feet down but not heels HTH
I am 5' 6" 30" inside leg I also had a 2013 1200S Touring and for the most part after a few 1000's Miles I managed with a few close ones, although I did drop it once earlier on where the weight transferred and it went down like a brick. I found you also had to plan every stop especially when abroad and when doing U Turns it was a pain. I also upgraded to the DVT 1200 with Skyhook, for the most part due to the much lower seat height, and it is much better, so much more confidence, can move it around so easy, stop starts are just great anywhere.
I'm 5'9" with 32" legs. I had a 2010 MTS which was manageable but, when fully loaded with touring gear, I never felt particularly secure stopped on steep hills or steep cambers. I got the lower seat but, because the seat is so wide, the difference was marginal. I think the DVT sounds like a better option because of the narrower seat.
5'6" with a 29 inch inside leg and I have no problems on my standard height 2010, best thing to do is to try getting on and off as once your on the bike all you have to do to get a foot flat on the ground is slide your bum across a bit. I can manage to hold the bike steady whilst wifey clambers onto the back
Also 5'6" with 29" leg - I had the lower seat on my 2010 Touring and had the seat foam reshaped on my 2014 PP. With that done I have had no problems. Putting the bike in urban mode makes the suspension a bit lower too so I tend to ride around with Urban and 150high engine map and change to touring and sport once I am out in the twisties.
Although I have still yest to order my Multistrada, I have found the seat height at its lowest setting fine, I am 5'7" with an inside leg measurment (u er misses!) of 31". Ducati also offer a lower seat option if you want to go down that route. I normally get my seat resculpture anyway dropping them by an 1" and adding some gel padding. The standard seat is significantly lower than my current bike which is an Aprilia Caponord 1200TP even with it lowered!
I'm 5'7" and 29" inside leg, have no problems with the dvt with the lowwr seat height setting. In fact, the 'footing' whilst on the bike is easier than my previous RSV4 Factory that had a wider and higher seat!!
Excellent, I'm not so worried now......time to go shopping, it'll probably be a 2012 model or thereabouts.
Yeah go for it. It's a great bike. I went for the s sport for the carbon bits because I'm a tart :Cigar:
Just to clarify......the DVT has the lower seat height and is only 2015 onwards. A 2012 would not be a DVT and has a higher seat that isn't adjustable. Still not a problem for us short arses though!!!
