ASV Brake & Clutch lever HELP NEEDED

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by abe1098, Jun 5, 2013.

1. Hi, I have just sold a pair of ASV brake & clutch levers on ebay. The buyer has just opened a case against me as he thinks that they do not fit his Streetfighter. My question is that they were off of my 1098 and as far as I'm aware the 848/1098 has the same levers as the 848/1098 Streetfighter and should fit both bikes. Can anyone confirm this please as I think I'm right and this chap wants a full refund etc[IMG]

2. i think you are correct but did you check the lever model number against the compatibility list on their the website?

3. They can be a b@stard to fit, sure the buy isn't just mechanically out of his depth?

4. if i remember rightly, the plunger needs a bit of coaxing to fit through the grommet

5. Yep I did, but the chap has said that the serial number on the box and instructions don't match the number on the levers. Yet I had them fitted by a Cresent Suzuki mechanic and he said they are the correct levers. I have also just fitted a black set of ASV's to my 1098 which are exactly the same and fit perfectly.

6. This is what the buyer has said to me. I don't know if he is a member on here? "Hi, i recived the ASV levers this morning, but would like a full refund including my return postage as the item you have sent is a set of ASV BCR50B Levers in BRC550-SG Boxes, with paperwork for BRC550-SG which is what i needed for my streetfighter, your levers are stamped with BCR50B which is the type used on YAMAHA R6/R1 motorcycles, and have completely different actuator, you clearly stated in your ad they were BRC550's, so i would like a full refund including my return postage of £8.25. i look forward to your reply.

7. Here is some pictures of the levers I have now fitted on my 1098 which are exactly the same as the ones I sold but in black. 20130605_183742.jpg 20130605_183807.jpg Can anyone confirm that they would fit the 848/1098 Streetfighter?

8. Well they're the same as mine and fit my 848. Bet the twat hasn't even tried fitting them.

9. More than likely mate. It's really frustrating, I try and provide an honest ebay service and try and give the maximum amount of detail in my adverts so there is no question about what I'm selling and then people do things like this.

10. Just looked at an ASV catalogue and both the Yam and Duc part numbers are BRC550, so don't know where your buyer's getting his info from.

I can't find any mention of BCR50B, my guess would be that BRC50B is just the part number of the lever itself without the pivot and other gubins. Did Google it and this came up:

"I put ASV C/5 clutch and brake levers (long version) on my '09 1198. The sheets in the boxes show the 1198 base/S/R uses the same levers as the '08/'09 848. There are lots of little pieces required to fit the Ducs.

Brake:
On the same sheet it says to remove the stock push shaft and replace it with the ASV push shaft. The little bag the shaft came in calls it the BRC50 Pushrod - Shaft. You'll also need the BRC50 "D" Bushings (top & bottom bushings for the pivot screw), BRC50 Brake Tab "D" (actuates the switch) and and BRC50 Brake Tab Screw. All the brake stuff is labeled BRC50-x.

Clutch:
For the clutch the push lever is called the CRC550 Pushrod - Shaft "D". There's also CRC550 "D" Bushings (top & bottom bushings for the pivot screw),CRC50 Tab - Stop Block "D" (actuates the switch) and CRC50 Clutch Tab - Stop Block Screw. Half the clutch stuff is CRC550-x and other half is CRC50-x"

I reckon he's made an honest mistake by looking at the number on the lever itself which seems to be irrelevant in the nicest possible way tell him they are the right ones and he's been an idiot

11. man that sucks, nobody wants that. If he's being tricky, may be worth saying sorry for the misunderstanding and get a refund. But thats a last resort. I would assume that as long as the master cylinder is the same, they should fit no problem

12. Awesome thanks  That's really good info :upyeah:

13. Yep totally agree. Well after further communication with the seller last night, I have decided to give him a full refund once I have received the levers back safely. I will then put them on here for sale as hopefully members on here will know what they are looking at and weather they are correct for their model of bike. Looks like they will definitely be for all 848/1098/1198 models but after this I wouldn't commit to saying that they fit to others, that will be the buyers responsibility.:upyeah:
