As it's a slow day at work, I'm reading up on my bike. One of the nuggets I've found is 'auto start': just press the starter button once and the starter motor keeps cranking till it catches. Is this true? On my previous bike I had to hold the starter button till it caught, I assumed this was the case with my 848 as well.
Nope one firm press and it cranks for a little while when it either catches or cycles for 5 or so seconds then stops. I assume its stop you keeping the starter turning for too long as you can burn it out the motor
Cool, every day's a school day then. Odd thing is, I've done this a lot of times at the dealer's forecourt with him and his mechanics watching and no one corrected me, even when I rode in their demo bikes. Is this feature on all recent Ducati's or only on the high compression Superbikes?
I'll give that a go on my 1098, although it will go against all instinct not to keep thumb on starter <--- although I actually use my right-hand thumb.
Snips It is on the 1098, I have an early S and it has it. It was one of the first thing my dealer showed me when I was test riding the demonstrator John
My old 2003 Multi had this, and my 2006 Monster does too, so I would say it's been on most models for the last 10 years ...
I think they call it the 'servo' start. My 999S didn't have it (2004). My 999R (2006) did have it. I fully expected my current 1098R to have it but it doesn't.....
Well, I guess mine is off. I tried it multiple times. But if I don't hold down the button, it won't start. A friend of mine had it on his Multi, but somewhere along the line he adjusted some settings and now it's gone. So I went through my menu, but there was nothing mentioning a servo start or something like that. Could it be that it is disabled with the Race ECU? Otherwise I'll have to dig out my manual.
My 1098 has it, the 848 does not. i quite like it, however I originally though I had a sticky starter relay...:Shy:
