Anyone got a solution to the problem of charging up my ipad and mobile phone through through either of the sockets on my MTS ?? All the power leads I found are for a much larger diameter car type cigarette lighter. Thanks in advance.
I have this kit mounted to my bike, as I use te iPhone with TomTom app. The charger in this kit comes with the plug that fits the AUX sockets. They are what they call "BMW style charger cable". Even tho I have connected the charger with the GPS power under the left hand side of the fuel tank:smile: Motorcycle M8 Mount + Tough Case for iPhone 4S 4 S + Din BMW Style Charger Cable | eBay
As Andres says the two power sockets are Hella type plugs, easy fix is to get an adapter like this : 50cm 12V Hella Type Plug to Standard Socket Adaptor - Trucks/BMW/Triumph | eBay, you can then plug in your normal car charger into it. There are lots of proper waterproof option avaliable, have a search on somewhere like www.butbits.co.uk, they do loads of similar stuff.
This guy will supply or make up any kind of cable with any kind of connector you might need, very helpful chap Motorcycle Relay Kits, Parts, Powerlet, Centech, Posi-Lock, and More!
This looks like a good piece of kit. One warning. I tried to wire up my Tomtom last weekend. I cut the car adaptor end off the cable and wired on a BMW, Hella size plug. Plugged it in turned the bike on and my tomtom no longer works. I seem to have fried it as it wont start. I guess I got the wires the wrong way round. Bugger..........
Dawg, Tomtom's only run at 5v, in the car charger it reduces the 12v battery, so yes you have fried your unit , but they can be repaired have used these before : Cheapest TomTom Repairs
Bollocks, There's me trying to save a few quid and it cost me a good Sat Nav. Thanks for explaining that. I have been pushing the 'on' button for three days in the hope it will start again.......
Thanks guys. No time for anything before I'm away. Guess I will be recharging the unit overnight in my hotel.
Nick, I just contacted these people via email. They say they can fix it for £15. That seems either very good or too good to be true. Was everything in order when you used them?
Yes, my USB charging socket broke, another common failure on them, i think it was turned around within the week, and still going strong over a year later.
Windingroads.co.uk supplied me with 2 DIN sockets that are the right size and are very small; right angle shape, that work well on my MST 1200.
