  1. Hello, as a few of you on here know I used to have a s4r monster which was a great bike, but I couldn't get used to the rough low down running, and at the time I didn't have the Money to have it remapped, so I sold it and brought a cb1000r in March last year, this was a good bike as well but so boring compared to the duke, so here I am again Hondas gone and I'm going up to Leeds tommow to look at a 899, I don't know the history of the bike im a bit concerned as to wether it may have been used as a track bike are there any tell tale signs to look out for, any advice appreciated ,thanks

  2. There has recently been a thread about buying second hand and should you be worried about the history. The majority opinion is that with evidence of servicing, few average track riders will be able to thrash a Ducati superbike or supersports bike. The wear on tyres is always a dead give away as is the fitting of new tyres with very low mileage. Modern soft sports tyres are going to give you an average of 2000 road miles but a couple of track days will shag them prematurely. If the overall condition is right for the mileage and you have verifiable history, I wouldn't be that concerned. Andy

  3. Thanks for your reply Andy, I'll be having a good look around it tomorrow, and get as much info regarding the history as I can, no doubt i will put a post on when I get back, commenting on how I've gone on.
