999 Back On Track

  1. Oh yeah - after redoing the entire engine around a new set of engineblocks I was doing 3 days at Anderstorp Raceway, a really fast ex. Formula-1 track with a long straight and really fast bends.

That rebuilt engine just pulled and pulled, I don't remember it pulling wheelies in 3rd gear out the curves last year... That was so much fun and I kept shaving seconds of my last year lap times.

Until that bend where I did something stupid, went out on the grass and dropped the bike and myself. No real damage to driver (a couple of bent ribs) or bike (fairing, gear lever), I'm happy that the newly bought Desmosedici fairing with Moto GP seat had not been mounted yet.

The GoPro went off the bike and took some great shots while spinning:

  3. Ouch!

Great picture though, not seen that angle before.

On a slightly different note, could you post a picture of your bike before the crash. I have been thinking about painting the bottom of the fairing black to try to break up the red a bit. Looks like you have already done it.

  4. Oh dear!

  5. Yeah, I think a black bottom fairing looks good with the red - or you could give it black checkered graphics, I have that on my neonorange Gixxer trackbike and it looks great!

  7. Nice seat unit on the gixer. What model? From 05 they kinda look all the same

  8. It's a K7 ('07) Gixxer.

I gave the '9 a coat of black on top of the gas tank to hide the crash-rash, I'll get back with a few photos when I get the new Desmosedici-design fairing with Moto-GP seat mounted. I managed to break the (newly welded) fairing bracket trying to bend it to fit the holes in the fairing :Banghead:
