Got the offer of a last minute discounted day from a mate. So heading to Donnington to sweat myself a nappy rash. Anyone else booked on the July 12th??
Enjoy. Three of our regular crew are there today. Crazy hot. Take care, lots of fluids and watch your pressures.
Oh the irony! “Couldn’t go and razz my bike around Donny as fast as I liked cuz I had to learn about going too fast…”
48mph on the M1 at 05.15 in the morning. No incident, all lanes open and virtually no traffic. Big tech ‘smart’ motorways eh? The machines are taking over.
I saw the mandatory 40mph lit up like Blackpool illuminations with ‘traffic congestion’ listed. I misjudged my deceleration rate and boom- nicked. But there was absolutely zero congestion btw, it was 05.20. Irritating but hey ho…. If I’m philosophical about it there have been many times I’ve speeded and got away with it.
Strange as these normally pop up next to a speed camera! :-( I do plenty of travelling up the M1 and all over during the night and the amount of times you see a 40 or 50 mph warning takes the piss a bit. Empty motorway and a 40 mph warning cause it’s congested or pedestrians on the motorway when most of the times, nada! You realise there’s nothing there and flash! You’re nicked! Fuckers!
I got flashed in the Aston last year on the way back from a friends wedding. Called highways and spoke to a guy, luckily the area was covered by cctv and he stated that the cameras on the gantry were faulty (they didn’t know up until this point) it was only that the cctv showed they were flashing for no reason (thank fuck). i had to send over his statements to Kent police in order to have the fine dropped as they run the camera partnership. I wonder how many people get fucked by stuff like this. I know a few people at highways who reckon it’s a lot…
Every time you see a few getting flashed and when a trucker gets flashed (which happens quite a bit), you know somethings a miss! Good info btw.
I didn’t know any of the above until the surprisingly helpful agent talked me through it over the phone
