Hi all, Newbie here I've just bought a 20 year old 900ss in need of some TLC, about 20 years after first owning one. By way of a shake-down test (and much to the seller's amazement!) I rode the 270 miles back home from Blackpool on it after handing over the cash. So it seems OK mechanically... I just love the pared-down style, the simplicity, the noise...... So I'm looking forward to getting my sleeves rolled up and bringing it up to scratch cosmetically. I hope I'll be able to pick up some tips from all you experienced folks out there...! Cheers
Hello and welcome into the mad house old/newbie SSer Not a fan of those errr fairings but at least it's red
Right. So several months have passed and I've finally finished stripping the bike down. I've got boxes full of stuff, all carefully labelled, and about a million photos of each stage of the dismantling. Here's what it looks like now. I need to get the frame blasted and repainted (is stove enamelling best?) and I need to very painstakingly remove all of the crappy old gold paint off the engine somehow (Nitromors? Dremel and a fine brass brush? Magic?). I really don't want to strip the engine down so I think blasting of any description is out of the question. Then I'll need to repaint it, and could do with some ideas about what sort of primer and paint other folks have used. I'd appreciate any thoughts please Thanks!
