1299 Baffles For Stock 1299 Exhaust???

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by LiveFast......, Mar 9, 2021.

  1. I have a stock 1299 Exhaust on my 959 and it tests at 105db static.

I would like to try some new tracks and lots have 102 or 103 db static tests.

    Oulton
    Mallory
    Croft
    Snetterton

    All come under this category

I have done the Ducati days at Silverstone and Donington and I’m fine a Cadwell with it’s 105 static but I want to be able to book some of the others without worrying if I will be allowed on.

I know there is a big thread about noise limits and many people have been allowed a little leeway with the Panigale but it would be nice to have a backup plan in case I got a jobsworth noise tester.

Has anyone had any made for the stock 1299 cans?

I haven’t used any before - how do they fit? I would prefer if they were easy to remove.

    Thanks

    Steve

  3. You may also need a rapidbike evo, so you can have a map for with baffles and without baffles. Others may confirm. You may need to drill a small hole to fix the baffles on the outlet flange. I have a set for my Akra and another set from a place im trying to google to let you know whom. Ive forgotten. I may have to wait till im home and/or rummage in garage as I still have some packaging to remind me.

  4. There is always a way. Could even get the stock silencer re packed/additionally packed.

Just watch out though, as you can over restrict an exhaust. I’ve seen bikes with running issues or worse due to baffles let alone anything on top of that :)

  5. i have a Rapidbike Evo on the bike so was thinking I could let it create a second map with the baffles in - as long as i can get it down to 102 db with some mild removable baffles then i have some confidence that i’ll get onto most tracks without losing too much power.

I think there’s a switch you can buy to swap between maps without needing to plug the laptop in but either way it’s not too hard to sort out.

But to be honest i’m not too worried about it failing drive by tests so as long as I could get it through the static I would be in the paddock taking them out as soon as I got the sticker! :joy:

  6. Croft and Snetterton are risky taking them out after getting the sticker. Seen quite a few get black flagged at both for the same thing. Don't know about the other two.

  7. Speaking to Rick from JHP about this just the other day. He says you need to open the outlets on the std cans to be able to fit baffles. Then get them fabbed up. Might be worth speaking with him...

  8. Thanks mate - I thought it might be something like that as they are small outlets

  9. Is that how loud they are? I've just fitted a set of 1299 cans to my 959 and don't think they are loud o_O My old 1198 with Termi's must have been deafening :joy:

  10. It’s the Panigale curse - the sound reflects off the ground and bumps the noise test results up - they do much better in drive by tests.
