Just under four years ago, I bought SW Motech's Engage XL tank bag, an Quick Lock electric tank ring for my Multistrada and the electric adapter for the tank bag - total cost something over £200. So far, so good. Some time ago however, it just stopped delivering power, so I asked if I could order a replacement tank ring. They said, no, we don't make the Quick Lock any more, it's replaced with the Evo. OK, said I, sell me a new Evo tank ring and adapter plate for the tank bag. They wouldn't do that, either. It turns out that they will ONLY sell you a whole new tank bag with the tank ring and will not sell the individual tank rings. So I can't use my existing tank bag, I can't buy an extra tank ring for any of my other bikes and they don't keep spares for something that they sold as recently as three years ago. So, fuck 'em, I won't be ripped off any more by these jokers and I'd advise anyone else considering their products to bear this in mind.
You didn't use google then? I have a tank ring on the MV and bought a second ring for the 1098. I found a touring bike shop that sells them and also the upper bit that fits the bag so you can actually adapt any bag to fit. Can't do links
None of which either have spares of the original tank ring or can sell the new tank rings & plates on heir own...
The adventure bike shop sells a kit to convert non electric to electric. There is a company in the U.S. Called twisted throttle that do a you tube vid about fitting the bags and rings. They offer advice on the phone and E mail. They also sell tank rings. Mine are old and new rings and my old bag fits on both I did find one company that sold the connector that fits the bag for £35 Why has the electrics stopped working on yours?
I considered buying an SW tank back and spent some time on the web researching them. In the end I gave up as the manufacturers website does not explain if the price of a tank bag includes a tank ring or excludes it. Never seen one in a shop down here either.
