Having purchased what I thought would be a simple but good value modification has turned into the bane of my life. What tool is required to remove the standard bar ends from a 899 Panigale?? Having done some research, it appears that a triple square socket is required... along with a long wrench as apparently they are usually stuck solid. Based on what I read, I purchased a long wrench and a set of triple square sockets, ranging from M4 to M12. On arrival, the M12's were found to be too small, so I bought another set ranging from M8 to M16. Now the M14 are slightly too small and the M16 is too large!! Unbelievable!! Is anyone local to North Lanarkshire that could kindly lend me the correct tool needed?
Are 899 bar ends are different to the 1299? I simply used a bloody big Allen key, can't remember the size so will check this weekend. Came off easily.
Its not an Allen socket...but it would be good to know if an Allen key still does the job! My Allen sets only go up to 10mm so will need to do another trip to toolstation by the looks of things. Keep me updated mate.
Thanks Jon... I went for the stillsons option. Came off no problem and got tossed in the bin. New bar ends now on.
