848 Bar End Weights

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Roadtrip, May 10, 2014.

  1. For the first 5 weeks of owning my 848 no problem but the last few rides i'm starting to get pins and needles in my right hand, I've done a search and i'm going to get a pair of Oberon end weights but what i would like to know is do i get the smaller ones which weight 68g a pair or the larger which are
188g, i would have thought the larger ones so to add more weight and take out more vibration or am
i wrong, any one got any views on this.

  2. Bar weights could/should help. I would suggest the smaller ones as you want just the right about to reduce to vibes, but not affect the steering to any serious degree

  3. Personally ive never found bar end weights do much.

  5. how did you get on mate? thinking about adding the R&G ones and just wanted to know if they do actually help or is it just an aesthetic thing???

  6. Hi Ian
    Yes they have helped,
The p/n has gone but but still get a small bit of an ache which i would of expected on a sports bike, i only got it in my right hand.
If the grips were a bit thicker that help even more but i am using summer gloves which are a bit thin, i have seen the R,G weights and they look a bit bigger but not sure on there weight compared to the Oberon ones.

I have done a few 10/20 mile ride out's and sunday it was a 35 mile trip and all's good so far just need to do a longer ride, But i do need to get some new gloves.

  8. evening.

does anyone know if the internal diameter of the handlebars are the same for the 848, 1098?
just bought some r&g weights and the shaft seems to be a couple of mm too big.

  9. Roadtrip, glad the bar ends are working for you, which brand and type did you purchase please as i need to do the same? Possible to share a link???

  10. Thanks Roadtrip I'll have a look myself and agree with buying local where possible!!!

  11. Over the last few weeks I've been getting p/n pretty bad in both hands and it was progressively getting worse.
I've gone down the sponge grip route and so far the results are pretty good.
I still get slight tingling whilst riding through towns etc, but nothing compared to what I was experiencing.

Having said that, the grips are obviously a lot fatter, which is okay for now as I'm wearing summer gloves. Once the winter gloves come out to play then I may need to reassess?

May get some bar end weights as well and see if it totally alleviates the tingles?

  12. Bit of mix and match and this one i think, + were not getting any younger :Arghh:

  13. Glad to hear they're making a difference for you. The opinion is out on whether weighted bar ends will make a massive difference yet go with what works for you I say

  14. What a little Tommy tucker. I responded to both Roadtrip and Old jock and the damn thing has disappeared. Frick Frick Frick.

  15. hi mate. i've done a few miles with some r&g's and i felt that it might have made a little difference but if it did, not a lot.

might try the soft grips as well if it doesn't get any better.
