I'm after the standard base settings for 1098 standard Ohlins front and rear, I'm sure I've seen a pdf somewhere but cant for the life of me find a link...Have had a search incl google Anyone either know them or a link? ta
Can't recall off top my head, but they should be in owners handbook. If you don't have it, download off ducati.com rear shock works much better with preload wound right off.....
Paul, it's twelve on the left and five on the right. Alternatively, you can find the owner's manual in pdf form for the base model 1098 here, which has the suspension settings. Edit: hmm, ninja'd by Nelly. Hell, I can live with that :smile:
They won't fit your yoke Bradders and the stem off the 1098 yoke will be too short, if the frame is the same as the 848. ( I'm not sure if the frame is the same as the 1098 tho).
Front - comp 8 clicks out, reb 10 clicks out. 8mm preload Rear - 10 clicks out on both comp and reb. 23mm preload. As mentioned before, get as much preload off the rear as possible. I ran mine pretty much all stock on the front. Think I ran less comp on rear with the preload wound right off as well.
As you may remember Nelly, I'm a tad larger ;-) altho a lot less so than I was, so hoping the 10nm spring up front will be better than the showas fitted now as they bottom out on track, even with hard all round adj. Will set sag then put all std and go from there, its only for the road really now with occasional Td Just hoping its an easy change...
How about mm above the top yoke? I have just above flat at the mo so you can see a glimpse of gold over the yoke. Should it be a ring or two?

Brill, thats exactly what I needed best go and spend another couple of hours, losing finger skin, trying to undo the blasted lower clamp
1098 forks are fitted with 242mm from top edge of lower yoke to top of fork leg. This gives about 2.5 rings above top yoke iirc. 848 is 235.5.......i'd set to that because of the different front geometry etc.
Install height on the 1098 is same for Ohlins as well as Showa. The original 848 forks may well be different though Bradders?? The front ends are different so they could well be. Might be worth a quick measure so you have a base to work from.
Thanks yeah they seem 5mm or so shorter, and most I have seen fitted dont have much above the yoke where showas are a fair bit. I'll set up as the size above and start from there
I have all manor of measurements I took from when I stripped the showa's from mine (top of lower clamp to end of stantion, bottom of lower clamp to wheel spindle centre, static sag etc) at home. I compared those with info from one of the US sites and info supplied by Dan Kyle, and I'm sure I still ended up with two lines showing tho. I was under the impression the 848 only had different geometry at the front, because the rear ride height was higher than the 1098's?
I think the frame is ever so slightly different, which is one of the reasons the stem as well as the yoke needs changing.
Yeah the head stock is definitely longer on the 848 and the lock stops are different too, but I took it the angle was the same. Thats why I was unsure if the Evo frame was the same as the 1098's with them both having the damper mount....it would have made sense to rationalise and only make one frame, rather than the two they were making.
