has anyone had to go near the battery yet? Will need to put an optimate cable on but a quick search hasn't brought up any results
Snell Ducati kindly supplied and fitted a C-tek cable for me, gratis.....I use their (C-tek MXS 3.6) conditioners. I had pondered whether to use the Ducati charger, but didn't like the idea of having to remove the pillion seat to connect; it uses the data connector. Seems easy enough job to do yourself.
It's fairly easy to get to. You can just about get to it without taking fairing off, but it's easier with it out the way. Left hand upper is all that needs to come off. There's a cover marked fuse that needs to come away and your there. One word of caution though..... There is a 90 second shutdown time on the ECU's. If you've had the ignition on DO NOT disconnect the battery until this has elapsed. Also try and make the reconnect as positive as possible to avoid any sparks at the terminals.
You could always buy the Ducati battery conditioner which'll plug in under your seat. No agg, but it'll cost you about £60.
Was a lot easier to fit than I thought, no fairing removal needed, just cover and five mins later all done!
If anyone else needs to fit one, and this comes up on the google search, I did a step by step photo thingy of mine ; http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/hard-wiring-an-optimate-lead.39145/#post-689710
