Does anyone know the optimum charge at which to maintain a 12v Multistrada battery? Mine seems to go up to 12.7 when connected to an Optimate and I'm wondering whether this is around the correct level and whether the charger is functioning correctly. Idle curiosity really. I know, I know, I should get a life ...
A fully charged 12V lead acid battery is actually 12.6 to 12.7V. I think the Optimate has switched to maintenance mode at this stage, if it were actually charging then the voltage would be higher (up to 14.4V I think). In summary, yes it seems to be working correctly.
I use a ctek charger and get simular results, charging voltage when the engine is running is about 13.7 -14.4v however this voltage is also used to run lights engine ecu etc rather than just charging the battery.
