Bbc Bike Racing Coverage!

  1. SPOILER

I got wound up (again) at the Beeb totally ignoring a good dollop of British success down under at the weekend so fired this off to the 'Breakfast' programme.

I am looking forward to Louise and Bill reading it out on-air any day now and offering sincere apologies or even a radical change in sports bulletin broadcasting direction!

Course, I wont hold my breath :).

It does get on my nerves though. They would feature tiddlywinks or chess if it meant disregarding anything that hooligan-thug motorcyclists might be interested in.

    Good afternoon,

I was surprised (well, not surprised actually) and disappointed that no mention was made on Breakfast this morning, of the three British riders who took the podiums in both World Superbike races in Philip Island, Australia this weekend – namely Leon Haslam, Jonathon Rea and Chaz Davies.

There was a piece on Tom Daly’s new ‘firework’ dive, and of Laura Trott explaining that the GB cyclists will be the best in the world in the blink of an eye, tons of football of course - but nothing on this superb motorcycle racing result.

Motorcycle racing today is a hugely expensive, colourful, professional and exciting sport undertaken by well turned out, intelligent and extremely fit athletes yet, in spite of covering MotoGP themselves until recently, the BBC seems to ignore this sport completely.

In excess of 100,000 spectators commonly fill race circuits around the world during the motorcycle racing season. I doubt that this is the case with many other sports regularly covered in your broadcasts – such as, diving and velodrome cycle racing for example!

Why the apparently grim determination by the BBC, to ignore notable British successes in such a widely followed and popular international sport?

    Regards,

  5. What a well written piece (and a view I completely agree with) - shame that the (paid for by you and I) BBC will totally ignore it.
