Hi wanted to give my stator cover a lick of paint. On strip down found that the bearing race that's situated in the case had collapsed. Got a new 1 on order ,just wondering if this is a common fault.

Not aware that it's a common fault, I did have one that started to scream randomly and so replaced it, but even on inspection it hadn't failed spectacularly. Only reason that comes to mind would be due to heavy-handed fitment of casing.
