Its been a while since I won any competitions, and then two come along I close succession. My last decent win, was an overland holiday trip from Rio to Buenos Aires as a result of a creative writing competition. Things picked up in last week or two - Just recently won tickets to the RIAT at Fairford for this Friday, and today a large package arrived on my doorstep, over 3kg in weight and well packaged. It’s a book- well I say book, more a tome and a door stop- in-waiting. It arrived in this box.... Its this; 450 pages, 3kg weight – “Zenith; the Story of a Watch Manufacture Under a Guiding Star”, by Joel Duval. Covers 150 years of the history, development and legacy of this leading watch/chronograph manufacturer. One of their leading lights is the El Primero movement, first ever automatic chronograph and famed for its accuracy and beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour. The book, would only cost you 100 Euros if you could source one…you wont find it in your local library. I shall be enjoying a little light reading tonight....
