Hi Guys, New to the forum and I'm sure this has been done to death, -Does any one have a detailed parts list i need to order -Is their a detailed step by step procedure about ( or a manual I should purchase) -Facom tool for tensioning seems most reliable, does the forum/club have one for rent or do i need to purchase one, or do i use the 5mm allen method. -Specific dealers for parts ? Really appreciate any advice or input, I'm not a complete novice, rebuilt many cars/bikes over the years just never done belts on a Ducati. Thanks Pat
Use the gates carbon drive app for tensioning your belts. Ping longest run of belt. Aim for 110Hz. Check pulley bearings and replace if in doubt. Make sure you tension the belts by turning the tensioner pulley anti clockwise. If you do it clockwise the belts run too close to each other. Cam locking tool is handy for vertical cylinder but not strictly needed. A third hand is useful if you don't have the tool. Plenty of videos on YouTube.
That’s great thanks, yes watched several videos seems pretty straight forward, I have that app already. Thanks
I would recommend replacing the locking Fuji nuts on the belt tensioners. They tend to lose their locking ability 2nd or 3rd time around. I've used Gates belts without issue in the past, but most here advocate for OEM or California Cycleworks. Longer change interval (3 or even 4 years), so probably worth it.
Great info thanks, I was planning on using oem and replacing the nuts, just want to make sure I have everything to hand. Thanks Pat
Performance bikes did a great guide about 10 years ago, it's what I've used without issue, belts I buy have the new lock nuts with the belt
Thanks Ivor, Don’t suppose you have a link to that article ? Best place for service parts ? Corsa b online have good prices on service kits, unsure if anyone used them and seem helpful. Thanks Pat
California cycle works belts come with new Fuji nuts and washers if you buy them from here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/11163740...8a2pb3mqCKmAseypMasPkSZ4Q=|tkp:Bk9SR-DQxNfdYA
Thanks Ricky, Sorry if I sound a bit green, are these superior to oem ? Is this what guys are fitting ? Was planning on using oem parts but if these are better happy days. Pat
I use the exact fit bought through this forum, if you ping me a message I'll email a copy of the performance bikes article and a copy of another I obtained, I use a combination of the 2, mark the pulleys and count the teeth
Not sure if they are better but certainly not inferior to OEM. I have been fitting these to my 4 bikes for the last 7 years and never had any issues at all.
