To save me taking the fairing, belt covers etc..........For the 750 carbed SS, can anyone recall the bearing references for the adjustable roller..........and if there is a way of replacing the fixed roller bearings, other than getting the new OEM ones at Ducati prices? AL
Fixed rollers are only available from Ducati, or Stein Dinse, frikken expensive!!! Assy no on the removed unit was SKF 367673A, Ducati p/n 45120211A I replaced the 4 adjustable ones with NSK 6201DU , they were frikken tite on the adjuster shaft, cheap enough though! That was on a 900SL 1996 motor. I think the parts are interchangeable 750/ 900 ss
I wonder why it is that Ducati chose to use a single roller / 'one piece' bearing for the fixed idler, but a two bearing version for the adjustable one? I have seen the earlier Pasos appear to have had a two piece beaing with a sleeve over them so it looks like a one piece roller......... ........so was it in my cynical view of Ducati parts prices used to gain more dosh for the fixed one (in which case why not do it for both fixed and adjustable)...... ........or why didn't they use two bearings and no sleeve over the fixed idler? Is it because a multiple bearing / no sleeve on the fixed idler shreds the belts because the belt has more load at that point??? Puzzled, me......
sat behind many a parts desk and spotted the cost price from the manufacturer often considerably cheeper to the dealership than they could source from motor factors. only talking from motor trade experience of coarse.
