Belt Tensioning Using Frequency Meter

  1. We all know when installing belts you ideally need a belt tensioning frequency meter. Surely you can not get the meter to display anything consistent and measurement would vary greatly on how hard you "strummed" the belt? Which is why Ducati, at Factory, have or had a piece of equipment that gives it a precise and consistant strum to the belted models.

Also, try measuring the frequency, say set to the exact frequency as required for e.g. 100Hz, and measure the frequency after a few rides. There is no way it would measure the frequency level when installed in the first place? A few hundred rides will slacken off to 87-90Hz. But how do you know that it was set to the right Hz in the first place as its impossible to get a correct consistant reading in the first place.

I have done my own belts in the past with no frequency meter, and no probs, although its good to have an ideal start off point using a meter, unless you have the proper equipment to set a consistant strum, then what is the point in using one in the first place? Maybe someone can enlighten me?
