Bennett's

  1. The 899 has been released. I have bought one. Phoned my insurance, and the 899 is not on their system yet WTF!!!

  2. Risk of buying one of the first brand new models I'm afraid. Takes a while for all insurers to get it on their systems.

  3. That's called divine intervention. Telling you not to go with the shower of crap that is Bennetts.

Go elsewhere, Ducati insurance for example who will likely be cheaper and not refuse your insurnace because you have a sticker and a dark screen therfore designating it as highly modified.

  4. +1 I find Ducati insurance mega helpful.

  5. Let me honest, that's a bit crap isn't it. Its these kind of things that say a complimentary 6mths free insurance from the manufacturer on new bikes would be really helpful. Never going to happen thou

  6. I'm only with Bennett's as they were the cheapest for my last policy. There's no loyalty here, I look around every year. I don't really want a new policy at this time of year so just wanted to top up my existing as I still have 6 months. The bike is on a few of the compare sites.

  7. On a side note be wary of the comparison sites too. I've changed 2 cars and a bike in the last 6 months and all the searches on these sites have registered as credit searches on my file. They can inadvertently have a negative effect on your credit rating also if you use them a lot.

  8. Ive just purchased a 899 , that I pick up in January. Im with Motorcycle direct and they have been really good for the last three years.

  9. You say it'll never happen, but that's exactly what happens in the car game. A lot of the chav kids round here are knocking round in brand new cars at 17/18 years old, because the cost of insuring an old banger is so dear it's cheaper to get a brand new car on HP/lease that comes with free insurance. Of course the bike industry has to put up with a higher accident rate, but it's probably still do-able.

  10. The last time I bought a brand new car (a small Peugeot for the wife), it came with 14 days free insurance, so you could drive it away from the showroom and to give you time to sort out proper insurance cover. If bike manufacturers did the same, that would be quite attractive to customers I would think.

  11. I seem to remember they did do that on bikes a few years ago, problem is when the 'youngsters' come to renew after the first 'free' year, they found that no one would insure them due to their age, so they had a bike on HP that they could'nt legally use. The same will apply to the one's now in the new cars referred to previously, when the policy runs out they are screwed.

  12. Are ducati insurance good ? i didnt try them when i brought mine .
Another problem buying the cheapest you only find out how "good" they are when you need them .
Theres plenty out there that find out why they are cheap .

  13. They're all con artists trying to find any excuse not to pay you. Don't kid yourself. Read the small print and know exactly what you're paying for; you'll find some of the dearest quoters are using exactly the same underwriters as the cheapest.

  14. Mate mine was t on there and its a multistrada!! Had to jack it after 10 months and start again elsewhere

  15. I had to phone a few to get a decent price for mine, lost a few quid cancelling my prevous insurance but the saving I made on the best quote I got from MCE to include my 899 made it worthwhile. All insurance companies will rape you one way or another you will just have to phone a few to get the best quote you can for you, its a pain in the behind but it's the only way unfortunately.

  16. For me yes. The premiums were okay, but with a shocking excess £750 for both the ZX7r and 1098s. When the Ninja got stolen, they paid out fairly quickly. All in all, I wouldn't have expected anymore

  17. Bennetts have been REALLY good with my mates dads write off recently as he had only had the bike 2 weeks it looked dodgy but they dealt with it perfectly.

Premiums wise mine is expensive and the excess is horrendous!!... Will be shopping around next year and I am sure it will help when the bike isn't brand new. My Daytona cost me £159 to insure so it was quite a shock when I changed to the 848 evo.

  18. Try Bike wise aka Adrian Flux insurance .
They also do a brill news letter ect .Usually a good read , cars and bikes.

  19. I was insured with Zenith through Bennetts. When it came to renewal time (after 6 years with them), they sent me a new set of docs and bill as an auto renewal. When i phoned them to see if they could better the price they announced it was sent by mistake and they wouldn't insure me due to the Termi cans. Had i not phoned them and just accepted the preimum i would have been in the shit if i claimed because they probably would not have paid out. Something the guy on the phone admitted would likely have been the case. They claimed it was due to restrictions Zenith have introduced.

So i ring Ducati Insurance. No problem sir, £100 cheaper than Bennetts and smaller excess. Who is that with i ask, "Zenith sir". When i told them what Bennetts told me about Zenith he just laughed and said "yeah we hear that a lot".
Bennetts just want to offload anything they see as non standard it seems. My bike is stock apart from cans and a bit of Carbon so hardly a modified machine compared to some.

When my brother moved house 1 month before renewal Bennetts wanted to charge him £30 to change it on the docs. I thought that was scandalous on a policy which cost him just over £100 a year.

  20. I lost almost £70 of a £100 insurance policy that I had just taken out a month ago on the GSXR as I had bought the 899 and had to cancel the policy so one month of insurance cost me £67 from a policy that was £100 for 12 months is a total rip off! But I did get an good deal with my new one compared to price to other quotes. Atleast Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask when he robbed you.
