1260 Best Accessories (for Bike Or Rider)?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by john clelland, Apr 27, 2020.

  1. a question to the hive-mind: what are the best accessories (either for the bike, or for the rider, so parts, safety gear, etc...)?

i am in a quandary for outfitting my 1260s touring ... i already have:
    • DP Urban Package (tank bag, USB power outlet, top case)
    • DP LED rear Turn Indicators
    • DP/Tourtech Radiator and Oil Cooler Guards
    • DP comfort seat
    • DP Pikes Peak CF windscreen
    • DP Termignioni slip-on
    • Iconic Parts windscreen spacers
    • Clearwater Lights Darla LEDs with CANopener (to control the LEDs using the Menu button on the Multi)
    • Evotech Performance GPS mount (for Garmin Zumo 395)
    • Sena/Schuberth SC4 remote control for comms sytem
    • Wolo 115 dB horn

so, what other accessories/upgrades are on everyone's added or to-add list?

  2. FWIW, i just ordered a set of the Evotech Performance handguards ... as it seems you Brits got the bugs worked out with Evotech on the mirror-handguard mounting bolt cockup.

Grazie for getting that all fixed with Evotech Performance

  3. Chain oiler, Puncture kit, compressor, tyre pressure monitor & a good lock.

  4. Good riding gear, waterproof and a comfortable range of gear for all weathers

  5. A better horn. The standard one is weak and sounds like it is off a cheap Chinese bike. You need something with oomph to wake up distracted car drivers.

  6. Some more bits that I have on my 2018 1260S --

Cobrra Chain Oiler - very good and so easy to use
Front fender Extender from Pyramid - keeps some of the crap off the engine
Touratech / Ducati Belly Pan - better protection and easy to get on and off
Ducabike Slave clutch cylinder - smoother and a little bit lighter to pull
CNC Frame plugs - cosmetic and gets ride of those rubber ones
Fit an optimate cable to the battery
Iconic GPS Centre mount - TT or Garmin
Michelin Fit2Go Tyre pressure sensors - better than the Ducati ones.

  7. agreed ... i installed a Wolo (310-2T) Loud One Horn - 12 Volt, Low Tone horn that i obtained from Amazon. easy retrofit, and sounds much louder than the anemic stock horn.

  8. For the ultimate look, a nice set of BST carbon fibre wheels ;)

  9. not sure about the chain oiler ... i've seen a lot of your Brits installing them ... me, i simply clean and oil the chain every week.

the skidplate upgrade might be in the cards sooner rather than later ... but not planning any off-road rides on this Multi.

the aftermarket clutch slave is a no-go for me at least ... i have installed various aftermarket slaves on my previous 5 Ducatis ... always went back to stock. just my opinion/preference. i have nothing against aftermarket kit.

i went with additional rubber frame bung plugs ... i found that the stock rubber plugs from a diavel fit perfectly.

already had a battery tender harness/plug installed from the dealer ... they "threw it in" with the purchase of a $20k+ bike ;-)

i have the evotech performance GPS mount. i really like jamie claire's iconic parts products, and woudl get one of those, if i did not already have the evotech kit. and i have a Garmin 395 GPS.

i will look into the Michelin Fit2Go TPMs ... grazie.

  10. Fit2Go doesn't fit a DVT Multi. Fouls rear caliper...

  11. With the 1260 you need the Tyre valves rotated so that they clear both the front and rear callipers, had mine moved so that the sensors cleared the callipers when I had new tyres fitted - a regular occurrence in my case - mind you the current set will last a long time due to Covid 19 !

EDIT - Forgot to say that the rear tyre valve needs to be changed for a 90 degree Valve to clear the rear calliper....

    Hi John,
I'm a firm believer in prioritizing function over bling as much as possible. That's not to say that I'm immuned to the bling wand spell. I have my weak moments now and then.
My 1260 Pikes Peak (with Touring Pkg) has all the bling I need. Consequently, in order of priority, I've added:

-Pazzo Short Levers ( I two finger and hate hitting my other knuckles if I pull too far)
-Throttle Spacer (hate the OE slop)
-A Lithium Battery (swapped-in by the Dealer as part of the deal)
    -SAE Battery Cable
-A 42T Rear Sprocket and DID chain (changed at the 600 miles 1rst service)
-EP Rad and Engine guard (Installed at delivery)
    -A Navihalter GPS bracket
-I deleted that heavy swing-arm mud guard for a noticeably more responsive rear end.
-A Dynamic Backrest (seldom on) where the base is used to mount a small tail-bag when needed.

  13. I've fitted aftermarket clutch slave cylinders to my last two bikes. I can't recommend them enough. Never heard of anyone having negative feelings about them but there you go ........

  14. what part of Canada are you in? (edit: i checked, and it would seem you are in Ontario, eh?)

i am originally from New Westminster, BC.

  15. Formerly Toronto but now Ottawa.

  16. agreed ... there is rarely bad weather for a ride ... usually, it's improper riding gear.

  17. yup ... i know lots of ducati owners who swear by aftermarket clutch slaves ...

  18. deleted that heavy swing-arm mud guard for a noticeably more responsive rear end.
    Really ?
    What was noticeable?

  19. MRA screen and get the seat reupholstered.

I designed this seat and had it made. It takes the dip out so you sit flatter instead of rolling your hips towards the tank.

Result, much more comfy and I’m happy with the look of it. Personally I couldn’t go for one of the big seats like a Corbin, they just don’t look right on a Ducati in my opinion.
