As part of my winter clean up of the 999 I am also planning on replacing the cable from the solenoid to the starter motor and put a second NEG/earth to somewhere on the bike. Where has everyone else put the additional earth lead, I'm struggling to find a good spot? There is a bolt that holds the starter motor (see pic) but it has a vibration rubber grommit in it, not sure this is the best place.
Try the battery side of the bike, there is a single bolt to the starter motor towards the middle of the engine. That's where mine is attached.
Ok I see it now, the screw/bolt that goes through the generator case and into the starter motor, I think there are 3 in total but the other 2 are under the generator case. Thanks, I''ll make a lead up tommorrow.
