Evening chums... Need some fibers for the lil monster... (620ie wet clutch) Can' t remember who I got the newfren plates from for the ss and my searches on line have been painful. .. eBay throws up sellers from Australia and Germany but nothing local... Anyone able to recommend UK seller?
Holly fuch! Cheap!!! Cheers dude... Was thinking newfren as they are 1/3 of that price and have had em in a few bikes with no probs... just want to find a UK supplier
My phone battery will be running out soon but I think the Suzuki plates (R650? wet clutch) are probably your best bet for price if not going with the Newfren. Someone else hopefully will come up with the model/listing
My experience with pattern Suzuki plates was that they appear well made but the tabs bound in the basket slots of my 999 as they warmed up, causing the clutch to drag alarmingly. I cured this by putting some of the old plates back in at the top of the stack, which totally cured the drag. It was my intention to allow the new plates at the bottom to bed in and then replace those with the ones that I had taken out to cure the dragging - then put the bedded in ones back in at the top to replace the worn originals (knackered tabs). However, the clutch has performed faultlessly ever since, so I haven't ever got round to doing it.
In fact is there anything I should know about doing a wet clutch? First for me! Will probably start a fresh thread when I get pkates. ..
for minimum faffing about then Newfren/Ducati O.E.M. but to save a bit of dosh and half an hour with a file :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clutch-P...584743&hash=item2143f85bf4:g:f0UAAOSwdoJbUFDp I'm not near a spare set to measure up and tell you the quite small difference in width of the tabs, I know some have fitted them on a worn basket without modifying and have been fine, I think it's when used on a dry clutch that you are more likely to have problems. (don't forget they are aluminium plates chizel in case you are concerned about this)
Hmmm .. the price is good!! Just a bit worried as it's my only wheels at the min and dont want any probs!!
I totally understand as I haven’t fitted those actual plates in the listing, and I couldn’t say hand on heart/hundred percent that they would be “fit and forget “
It may be possible to lean the bike left enough to not need to drain the oil. I know this works in the other direction but not sure about the clutch side. You may want to change the oil anyway of course. I was shocked with my 750 SS how gunked up with mayonnaise the clutch was. It really brought home to me the need to boil off condensation on these bikes.
GS550 plates. A lot of peeps tried them in dry clutches with mixed results but they should be fine in wet duc.
The price is right for sure! If it were for a dry clutch I'd definitely give it a bash as it's only a 15 mins job but with the wet and it being my work transport I'm a lil more worried.
