I'm taking a day to ride-up from Somerset to Manchester through Wales next week. I'd plan to go via Abergavenny for a cuppa but I don't really know the roads north from there. Any advice on the best possible routes and stops for lunch etc. to Manchester?
Aber to Bluith Wells on A470 Bluith Wells to Welshpool on A483 Welshpool to Dolgellau on A458 & A470 Dolgellau to Bala to Mold on A494 Mold to Manchester on A55 then M53? Or M53 A51 A54 A556 via Northwich to Manchester
So why were you late Dave ? .....sticking to the speed limits ....on that one ....nah I don't think so
Went Oswestry to Builth Wells (A483), Builth Wells to Aber' (A470), then down to the M4 and over the Severn Bridge on Monday. Fantastic, and I'm looking forward to the reverse trip Tuesday! This time I'll be doing it on the Ducati though, instead of the ZZR1100. Even on the elderly Kawasaki, in the rain i didn't think i should have gone A5 M54 M6 M5. I may modify it to include the A470 A458 loop this time though - just because i can. Ill see how i feel, by that stage I'm normally getting a bit uncomfortable! It's one of if not my favourite route!
Brilliant trip, over the Severn Bridge, through Wales, Cheshire, Yorkshire then Linconshire to Cadwell Park, then back. 1000 miles in a week. Time for new back tire!
