Best track-day for a first?

  1. I've never done a track day but would like to. Bearing in mind I live in MK, what would be the best track day / company to go for with my monster 696? I'm guessing Silverstone won't be that great because it's so big with really long straights?

    Thanks :)

  2. Bit of a journey but Cadwell Park is probably a good one to try. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery and in my opinion worth going just for that but also because it is a track with lots of lovely curves and not so much emphasis on long straights so should suit both you and your bike well.

  3. Castle Combe is pretty gentle on newbies and not too far from yr hood...

  4. Mallory Park (if it's still open), easy to learn and the friendliest circuit in the UK. Fairly central so not too bad for you to get to.

  5. Since you're in MK I'd recommend Bedford Autodrome - been there twice this year already as it's one of my nearest circuits. I'm going again on the 23rd August with No Limits.

It does have a whacking big back straight (handy for having a bit of a rest ) and it's a bit flat being an airfield circuit, but has some nice sequences of bends and plenty of run-off area with nothing much to hit. It's nearby and pretty cheap too (£85 on 23rd I think).

  6. Been looking at Bedford, might join you on the 23rd if there's space :)

  7. Cool - let me know if you do. I usually stay with friends in Wolverton the night before and it's only 40 mins or so from there so we could ride up together. Might have another mate coming along on his R6 too.

    cheers,
    Dom

  8. Got a pass from the boss & they've got space so looks like I'm going :)

  9. Excellent. I've pm'd you my number so we can catch up nearer the time.

  10. Got it ta, will reply with mine :) Got to see what the requirements are - not done a track day before!!
