1200 S Best Tyre For Mileage

Discussion in 'Monster' started by MotoNik, Jul 8, 2016.

  1. My original back tyre is now squared off - not great at just over 900 miles. I'll probably just about get another 1000 out of it... I used to run Michelin Pilot Road 4 on my Multistrada 1200, and would average over 4000 out of a rear tyre. Can anyone recommend a Pirelli equivalent that might work ok with my front tyre? I was thinking maybe an Angel ST.

Always very loathe to start a tyre thread - for one it's so subjective. But interested to hear feedback about tyre life from different brands and specific tyre types.

    Thanks!

  2. do not mix tyres, patterns, compounds, profiles and structure all play a part in adhesion to the road as well as chassis line on a lean,
only buying one then match it and change type next time,
best tyres now, for touring, Pirelli angel GT, Bridgestone T30, Dunlop roadsmart2/3,
angel ST is not touring, it's the predessesor to rosso 2 and that has been updated to rosso3, you would only buy ST if your trying to save money but youll kill it in 2/3rds time of RD4
if your buying on price alone then,
    Avon storm 2
    Bridgestone BT023
    michelin pilot road 2
    Dunlop roadsmart 1
remember your buying the manufacturers entry level tyre, they may discontinue it then you may want one to replace a puncture and you may not get one 8+ months down the line!!
my advise, pay for good tyres, get suspension set up, if your still not happy then itcan only your riding style killing tyres
£30 extra now is money well spent

  3. Price isn't really the issue, I just want to make sure I get something that will last a decent amount of time.

  4. if youre looking for high(er) mileage the bridgestone t30 is the best wearing (and confidence inspiring at the same time) tyre i've found

sure others will contradict that as is the way with all tyre threads/opinions :D

  5. I have run Maxxis Supermaxx Diamonds for years now as i am a commuter and find they last forever, give great grip (in the wet too) and are one of the cheapest tyres around, strangely.

And my name is Nick too, although spelt differently. End of story :)
