Howdo Wondering what people are using at the track for full on wet conditions? Dunlop, Conti or Bridgestone? Any feedback or suggestions welcome, apart from stay in the garage. Cheers Pablo
I would say general consensus is dunlop wets are at the very top - i used pirelli's as they were race series specific tyres. Know a few people who used bridgestone which are ok. Don't know about conti...
Conti were terrible when we used them for a race meet. Dunlop are good but when I was racing I had great grip and feedback from Metzelers.
I ran a set of Bridgestones on my 853 in the rain at Brands and Cartagena, awesome grip and confidence inspiring. Got a set of Metzelers on the spare 1098R wheels because I like their rubber but not had an opportunity to use them yet. Andy
Thanks for the feedback gents. Ooops just got myself a set! Running Conti slicks this year (As I got a cracking deal and heard good things about them). So I have a set of Pirelli wets for damp/drying track and a set of Conti's for full on cats and dogs. Will see how they go. Also told the Michelins power Rain is a good option. All the best Pablo
I've raced on Dunlops, Michelin and Metzeler wets. I had good grip on all of them but the Metzeler gave me the best feedback out of all 3. My comments relate to about 4 years ago though so things might have changed since then.
Metzeller wets here. I can't really comment on how they compare as I've not used anything else but I was gobsmacked by how well they worked having never used wets before. Jerez Bit of a brown starfish moment sending me over the handlebars on this one at Portimao:
Of all the major tyre manufacturers, Conti have probably taken the most significant strides to improve their brand peformance over the last 2 or 3 years. Still a Metzeler man myself but then I'm a grumpy old git and don't do change. Andy
