M1200 fitted with Yuasa YT12 just under 3 years ago, on Optimiser if not used for more than a few days, now knackered. Is there any better solution?
I've seen JMT Lithium for about twice the price and quarter of the weight of lead/acid, direct fit apparently. Worthwhile?
Lots of information on here detailing the pros and cons and finer points of AGM vs LiFePO. Lithium chemistry batteries do not cope well with a steady drain bolt on like a monitored tracker and will need a dedicated lithium chemistry battery maintainer. Cold cranking amps (CCA) like APR, it’s a general guide for comparison between specs. If you just want to ride and not faff around, an AGM battery is still a very viable choice. Andy
JMT's in all my bikes...oldest has been in my RSV4 (almost 10 years now) - started it yesterday after 5 months in hibernation...started first go...
Thanks CS. Do they have alarms on? Older Datatool {1998} has more significant drain than 2016 version, so for 748 I wouldn't consider it because that needs tending more frequently, but I might for Monster, particularly as it's such a pain to change that battery.
Theres not an alarm on there but (at the time) the place that i got them from was flogging a bluetooth monitor (so i got 4 of them) so not an alarm but you can open the app and see the current voltage...as my bikes has got battery backed trackers they stay on optimates all the time but, ive got a smartplug in the garage that powers them off during the day for about 12 hours or so to drain them a bit... I think this is the monitor.... https://www.superbikesurgery.co.uk/service-tools/jmp-battery-monitor-version-2
