Hi all I'm a very proud owner of a 62 plate 2013 EVO Corse SE (red, white and black) with 5k miles on the clock. I'm considering buying a Panigale R but as it's taken me much hard work to get to a point where I can afford one I'm wondering if they loose their value quicker than the EVO? I'm assuming that there are more R's about than EVO se's so some advice would be gratefully received Thanks
Wait, a 848 Evo corse or the 1198 corse (assuming it was an official one?) The panigale r I imagine will hold its value very well if you go for the newest model, the older one having been replaced quite quickly and the newer one being readily referred to as much better to ride might helps it's values stay high.
Thanks. Mine's the 848 Evo Corse Special Edition. I'm considering keeping it as well as buying the R as I don't see many of them about
I think the Evo corse is reasonably common tbh, certainly a quick eBay search normally shows up 4-5 for sale at a time. However it's also the very best of the 848 range so if u can keep it then do! Regards to the panigale, it's a very different bike. Everything about the panigale range is very different in riding style so you may find u don't like it, you may totally love it and never ride the 848 again!
My last bike was a BMW RR and I also have an R6, an Er6 and a Fireblade I thought I'd made a mistake once I'd ridden the EVO for longer than the test run but it didn't take long to get used to it and now I just love it. I can switch between riding any of them without too much adjustment. Hopefully a Panigale will be as gentle with me as the RR was!
I find the panigale (in general) a much easier bike to hop on and feel comfortable, it certainly steers much quicker and feels like a much shorter bike than the 848, so more like the 600's. That said the 848 series are just un-crash able in a corner (or at least feel it). I'm sure u will love it but yeah, keep both if u can incase u hate the panini! At least if u love it u can sell the 848 in the spring when people are looking to get their summer weapon
I used that one the last time I bought a bike. The agreement was that no more bikes in the garage without one leaving Hopefully she meant her!
Historically the R models drop 50% of the list price then start rising again. The only one that didn't quite drop to 50% was the 1098R
Don't buy a bike for an investment and don't worry about what it will be worth at some time in the future. Any financial advisor will tell you that to invest £20,000 in something that you are going to take out on the road in all sorts of weathers with every car out to get you is a huge risk to your money. If you love the bike then buy with your heart and forget the cost side.
Or buy 2 But seriously - I bought my S1 Exige for it's investment potential in mind, sure I wanted / had to have one. I paid just over £16K about 8 years ago (if I had bought a new car for that it would now be worth £2000. I have enjoyed the Exige using it as a summer toy for 8 years, it is now worth £30K + Nothing wrong with having residuals in mind when buying toys
Wasn't looking to money. I just wanted to know if I'd loose a lot quickly. I rode my RR around for a year and got what I paid for it when it came to selling it. Any financial advisor would call that a good move I reckon!
