2010 STouring. Out for a run yesterday and had done about 180 miles. Was coming to a roundabout controlled by traffic lights and suddenly the bike cut out. I can't be 100% sure that I did not hit the kill switch for some unexplained reason but it wasn't down then I looked. I was still going about 35mph so tried to bump it but nothing. Pulled over, reset everything and it started no problem and did the last 80 miles without missing a beat. I know the warning is on for oil at 7500miles (currently on 7200) but this will simply be reset and oil was done early at 6800. Any ideas or do you think I was just being a numpty and flicking the switch in error (and switching it back on) without noticing I had?
Same thing happened with my 2010 STouring on Friday evening. Changing down approaching traffic lights, let the clutch out about 40mph and nearly went over the bars Lol. Tried bumping it but wouldn't have it. So just coasted and pressed the start button and off she went. Never happened before and it was fine for the next 40 mls home. I just put it down to hot weather and the normal rough running at 2500-3000 rpm and having a Leo Vince de cat with standard can.
I have had no luck bump starting my 1200 S Touring, my theory is that the slipper clutch does not allow bump starts.
This happened to me when I first went for a test ride, I overtook a bus then when I pulled in in front of it the bike just cut out, I did manage to bump start it thankfully as the bus was closing fast!
Just a thought. What tyres are you guys running? I'm wondering if this would affect the DTC and cause these cut outs. This happened to my streetfighter and I'm reading of others too. Hasn't happened to my mutley yet though.
Trying to bump a bike with a slipper, will cause the slipper to operate, and not turn the engine over.
I was coasting up to a roundabout with the clutch pulled in in third when it happened to me two days ago. Since then I have had sporadic Ducati SS System error messages and an illuminated engine-management system light. Both of which cleared. Wonder whether there's a connection. 2013 Multi. Three months old. 6,200 miles.
I had it once, when I hit a bump, just before a T-junction. I believe, with no evidence, that it could have been the side stand switch activating. I've got that massive dp foot thing which adds a lot of weight to the side stand.
