I know there are several of us on here who have attended one or more of these road only bike trackdays. In a new addition, this year we get to ride Brands Hatch GP. So far this year the events are as follows April 16 Snetterton - £89 May 16 Cadwell - £99 June 13 Brand Hatch Indy - £129 June 30 Oulton Park - £149 August 15 Cadwell Park - £99 Sept 24 Brands Hatch GP - £169 October 16 Snetterton - £85
I may get to the April 16th at Snetterton, it just depends own my day goes on the Saturday 6th at Cadwell
I may be i will know in a week or so as i am away at Goodwood the day before so i have to earn points from the other half ;-). So while she is on holiday with the little ones i am getting a new bathroom fitted ( but she don't have to know i did not fit it )
Whats the deal with these days? I spoke to a chap organising the Bike days last year and requested that I came with the bike in the van rather than ride as I like to bring some tools and a nice chair to sit in and a sandwhich (maybe even a pot noodle!) and although he wasnt too keen he did say it was fine. Do people ride their on the bike, ride round all day then ride home like we did back in the day or is there still a few vans around?
The idea is to ride to the track, ride the track and then ride home. If everybody brought vans and trailers, then it would just be like every other trackday. The lack of vans and even chairs, in my eyes anyway, creates much more interaction between the riders. At normal trackdays you'll speak to your mates and maybe the other people on the garage. I know that if you do bring a van/trailer as some will have to, especially if traveling from a long way away, they ask you to park it on the far car parks in the paddock. The lack of an alternative way home, also helps keep things sensible. Yes there are some very good riders who come to these events, but the vast majority are novices, which is why they have two novice groups and one inter/advanced group. Its nice to speak to the guys from the magazine as well, all of which and friendly and helpful. Give it a try, you'll love it
I've booked Snetterton on 16th. Persuaded a mate to come along for his first track day, on a Street Triple R. Fuggin' hope the weather perks up by then...! See you there Matt & Pete cheers, Dom
If it looks cold and/or wet I'll be up on my Ninja as the tyres would be better suited, otherwise the 1098s will be coming out to play  Will be great to meet up
If you were to turn up in a van with paddock stands and tyre warmers and slick tyres, that would be entirely outwith the spirit of the Bike trackdays and you would be very unpopular. Likewise if you brought a Snap-On tool cabinet with you ready to bolt on lots of track bits, or a bike without a number plate & tax disc. Provided you could have ridden to the track on your bike with your stuff, that's OK - nobody is going to cross-examine you as to whether you have a van hidden away parked around the corner. By the way the paddock café at Snetts is pretty good, doing proper meals for lunch if you want.
