Anyone got any views on dedicated bike shelters? I'm thinking of buying this one Shed / Garage / Workshop / Motorcycle Storage - Titan 940 (approx. 9' x 4'): Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
If it's metal you could have problems with (severe!) sweating. I get that to a small extent with my mostly all wooden workshop and although I use a dehumidifier it doesn't stop it completely. What about using the bike tent type shelter? Something like this maybe Waterproof Motor Bike Folding Cover Storage Shed Shelter Outdoor Tent Garage New | eBay Stick in a dehumidifier to help it along and it might be just as good, if nothing else it's cheaper. You could even use that and put a car port type cover over it for double protection and it still should be cheaper.
I've just ordered an Asgard Centurion for about the same money and it appears to be a lot better value? 2.18m x 1.52m (7'2x5') Asgard Centurion Metal Shed | Shedstore It's not due for delivery for another couple of weeks so I can't give any real feedback on what it's like in the flesh but can let you know when I've put it up if you're interested... I'm concerned about humidity as Red mentioned, but it has venting which is supposed to help so I'll have to wait and see. TBH I run a dehumidifier all the time in my garage and it's amazing the amount of water it takes out of the atmosphere so I expect I'll have to do something with the Centurion too which means getting a power supply out to it
Artic cable on a short (or any ) length works well. It can stand up to cold conditions and be buried underground etc. I use it for all my outside environments. Ideal for use with tools or equipment used outdoors or in a cold environment. Yellow Sheath
Re Asgard, they have a 'sale' on: Motorcycle storage & Secure motorbike garages at Asgard Motorcycle Storage - UK Locksmiths Approved | Motorcycle Storage Asgard
Looks like a reasonable deal Andy - although you can sometimes find third parties with better prices than their "sale" numbers. I got mine for £50 less than the sale price... I looked at that one before buying, but I just didn't quite have enough space for it without a load of extra work. And since I only want to get a 125 and various odds and sods (bar-b-q etc.) out of my garage I went for the slightly smaller Centurion.
You'd think you'd get the best deal at source?! I do appreciate my attached double garage!........and having space round the back for a shed for all the garden crap!!
I have an asguard security shed and love it, had it for 5 years now, great quality and would recommend to anyone
finm - just done that with one wall of my garage (to stop me scratching the car) and was hoping it would also help with the damp come next winter. knightrider - does the venting on the asgard work, or do you get condensation?
I had a problem with storage, So I bought this, took a while for delivery and setting it up took 3 weeks but for 6.5k I think it's well worth the money
I have to yes as I've never seen any condensation, I don't ride a lot during winter but have put the bike away a lot when it hot and the outside temps are cold and still haven't had a problem. Hope this helps
If anyone is interested in one of the Asgard shelters I may be able to help. We are looking at reviewing one to publish on the site, complete with build pictures and finished product. There would be some publicity involved. There would be a significant saving against new. PM me for more details. Cheers, Rob.
OP, I have the larger version from the same manufacturer, can highly recommend it,, it comes flat pack so its like building a large meccano kit which I found quite fun. In the 6 years I,ve had it, it's stayed dry, free of damp and ticks all the boxes + I get a discount from my insurers as they recognise it as a bike shed. If you go to their website you will see more options, shelves for all your bits and pieces, locks , alarms etc. since buying the MTS I have wired it for power for the battery conditioner! it's now become my bolt hole
Anyone got experience of this shelter? Could be ideal for me, as I have very limited space, unless I lose some of the rear garden. Thoughts welcome...
Rob I'd love to do a review - I'm a journalist by trade and have worked for The Times and the Press Association, among others, so you could expect a well written review. I'm using an iPad to reply and can't immediately work out how to PM you! Bit pushed for time at the moment so hope you see this. Please let me have details of what the deal might be. @Rob
