I have just built myself one of these Motorcycle Storage Garage - Locksmiths Approved | Motorbike Storage Asgard - excellent piece of kit. I will post a fuller account of the trials and tribulations of the endeavour - along with my assessment of the unit and some photos when I have more time. But in the meantime, anyone thinking of buying one can ask me questions here. The are on offer from £999 at the moment and worth every penny I reckon as insurance companies recognise that they are almost impossible to break into.
Thanks for spamming every section of the forum..... Are you selling them by any chance? Vested interest?
As you please. No vested interest apart from trying to help fellow bikers protect their cherished machines. I've had two expensive bikes stolen and know what it feels like. Anyway a few people have responded so it seems like my time wasn't totally wasted. Cheers!
Remains to be seen about the lock, which I reckon is good enough to deter all but the most determined thief, but puny it ain't, I can assure you. OK a brick-built garage would be best but if you haven't got room for one, what are your options beyond leaving your bike covered and chained to a ground anchor? Think about it. Interested to hear if you've found a similar less "puny-looking" unit.
By the way, the manufacturer claims the garage is the only insurance-approved bike shed in the UK and that its locking mechanism is "locksmith-approved". Whatever that means!
More than happy for you to add a thread to discuss it, but posting the same thread all over the place is just going to annoy people
Well done @mattmccabebrown that's just the ticket ... but have you checked this site? I'm sure you'll find it helpful.
Appears they run 3 day courses on how to become a Locksmith looking at their web site??? Are these tin sheds manufactured in China?
Fair play to you for trying to protect your possessions. £999 isn't cheap. Shame that people have to go to these efforts.
As I said earlier it was an easy decision as I get a lower insurance premium and no longer have to faff around padlocking the bike to a ground anchor.
I know the owner of this business that makes metal buildings, XtraRooms - Home. They are far more solid than that building looks (not seen one "in the metal" so based purely on the photos in the link). I'd bet they're more expensive, but you get what you pay for. They're not a kit as each is built to fit the space required, so you get exactly what you want. They're insulated so you don't get condensation in them. You can also choose different colours to blend with surroundings. I know he's done quite a few for bike/car collectors but I don't think he's done many single bike ones, although I have seen one he built. He also rides a Ducati....... If you're thinking about a new man cave it might be worth giving him a call!
