I need to organise transport of a Bike from Surrey to West Yorkshire as soon as I can. Can anyone recommend a reputable company that specialises in this sort of thing please as I have never done this before. Thanks
Text me on: 07908865962 tomorrow to discuss. I have a small motorcycle business, Interbikes Ltd, and we have a few trailers suitable for this kind of thing... Proper bespoke ones, rather than the usual flimsey variety. Either collect and hire from us (near Lutterworth), or we can collect and deliver for you.
I used The Bike Movers for a job earlier this year, fantastic rates and karl knows his onions and is well known. I would suggest calling him if you want the move done without any stress. Would highly recommend. Motorcycle Collection | Motorbike Delivery | Scooter Transportation | Bike Movers
When I want to move a bike I either ride it or rent a van. £60 rental, a couple of ratchet straps and some fuel gives me piece of mind that the scratch I'd never seen before but has possible been there forever can only have come from one person.
If you need a ramp,or any one wants one free,i have a spare taking up room, collect only b49. http://www.bykebitz.co.uk/media/cat...e5fb8d27136e95/b/i/bikeit-motorcycle-ramp.jpg
Are you in Surrey? You are in the heartland of Ducati world if you are, sure somone can lend you a ramp
There are plenty of yorkies here too. Or maybe your friendly dealer could lend you one for a day or two? And I wouldnt recommend the mates lift method unless its a wreck already or you are happy for it to be
I had to lift a 600 monster into the back of a rwd transit as the plank we took was too short due to the twin axle. We lifted it into the side in the end. It cost £1200 so wasnt a biggie if I dropped it.
I've got a home made ramp. Every time I move a bike I use it with a van from work. Took about a hour to make and £20 of wood. Might be worth it as you'll use it time and time again
But i prefer the look on people's faces when u turn up to pick an expensive bike with a piece of 2x4 as a ramp
Took a bike south and collected another recently using a hired van and a set of ladders with 2 planks of wood to balance on top. Also took a set of car ramps to place under the ladder in case it slipped. It worked fine for me as you have 2 sets of hands at the meeting point and was able to unload the bike myself on the my return, Just watch when you are loading that the angle is not too steep especially when going over the lip of the bumper/rear to stop it catching the belly pan on the wood/ramp. Had the bike on a rear paddock stand on the way down, secured with ratchets and on the side stand on the way back, jamming the front wheel against the front of the van.
Depending upon urgency, we are putting our race-transporter back on the road in the next month or so, with a massive tail-lift, fully covered and secure box-van rear, winch and workshop. Just in case anyone is interested ?
